Nov. 19 Cadet Laurel Neposchlan, a 2011 graduate of SHS, will be in the Commons during lunch to talk about the United States Military Academy at West Point. Stop by her table. A representative from the Marines will also be here.
Get a pass in Guidance or from Mrs. Povse to attend the presentations that occur during class times.
Seniors interested in being a Senate Page need to pick up a sign-up sheet in the Guidance Office. They are due back by November 13th. Interviews will be held in December.
The Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Illinois scholarship is now available to students with financial need. Application at www.ioof-il-org
Seniors interested in teaching: the Leroy and Rachel Cantrall Scholarship, paper application, is now available from Mrs. Povse.
The following scholarships are available: Polly Roesch vocal music major; the Skelton scholarship which is based on economic need; and the Davey Scholarship loan. See Mrs. Povse for these applications.
Juniors and Seniors: The next college bus trip will be to Western Illinois University, Macomb, on Thursday, December 6. Permission slips are available from Mrs. Povse or in the Guidance Office. Permission slips will be due the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
It's time for SHS's talent show, "Springfield Idol". Examples of talents in the past are vocal solo and ensembles, instrumental solos, piano, guitar, dance, rap, dramatic interpretation, and poetry reading. Monetary prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! Auditions will be today after school in the choir room. Sign up for an audition time outside the choir room door. If you cannot make one of those times please see Mr Kaplan or Ms. Elmore. Springfield Idol will take place on Tuesday November 27 in the SHS Auditorium.
All Cross Country athletes need to turn in clean uniforms to Coach Devlin and pick-up a banquet form.
FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Nov. 20, from 8:30am-2:30pm. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch, before school, or after school in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 19. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the auditorium at your convenience. Please donate. Mrs. Fisher, in the Main Office, is LIVING Proof that blood donations SAVE LIVES! She received 3 units of blood through two life-saving transfusions! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.
