Memorial Medical Center announces its Student Volunteer Program for the summer, June 17-August 9. This program is open to juniors and seniors. Application, 2 letters of recommendation, essay on why you want to volunteer and interview. Applications are due April 26 and may be picked up from Mrs. Povse.

NHS members: 8 students are needed on Thursday, April 25 at 3:00 at Memorial Stadium to help keep scores and run concessions for the Middle School City Track Meet. The opportunity is for 6 hours. Please contact Mrs. Ruedin if interested.

FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES, AND JUNIORS: If you are interested in being a part of the newspaper class next year, you must fill out an application. You can pick them up in Ms. Negele's room, 362. All applications MUST BE returned by April 26. You cannot be accepted into the class if you do not apply.
Seniors: On April 23 & 24th, we will be testing all freshmen, sophomores, & juniors. During those two days, you have the opportunity to choose one of 3 Senior Day Activities: College Visits, Job Shadowing, or Community Service. There are permission forms that were handed out in homeroom. If you did not get one, please come to room 169 to get a copy. The forms must be signed by a parent or guardian and turned in to room 169 (not 106) NO LATER than April 22nd. You must also provide verification from the college, employer, or organization and turn that in no later than May 3rd to room 169 (not 106). In order to have your absences on these days to be considered an "Activity" and not count against you for Exam Exemptions, you MUST have the signed permission form turned in no later than April 22nd and the verification papers turned in to room 169 (not 106) no later than May 3rd. If you do not want to participate in one of these activities, your parent/guardian may call you in to receive an Excused Absence for those days. However, these will count towards the absences for the Exam Exemption. If no permission slips are received and no calls are received, the absences will be considered unexcused. Any student wishing to apply for "First Day Fund" school supplies for next school year needs to fill out the blue form and return it to the Guidance Office by April 30th. Extra forms are available in the Guidance Office.
Last year, the Scarlet Line placed 7th in state competition, qualified for NDA Nationals, performed at City Tournament, and entertained at home athletic events! We are now in the process of planning for next season. Tryouts for the 2013-2014 SHS Poms teams will be held at Springfield High School the week of April 22nd -April 26th. Clinics will begin around 4:00 p.m. and will dismiss at 6:00 p.m. Clinics are closed to spectators. Tryouts will be judged on Friday, April 26th. More specific details will be discussed on April 22nd with the team candidates. Application packets are now available on the Springfield High School website or in the SHS main office. Seniors! Voting for prom court will be tomorrow, Wednesday, during both lunch shifts in the commons. 8 girls and 8 boys will be chosen to represent the Senior class on court.
Do cats really have nine lives? Do they always land on their feet? What IS a jellicle cat? These burning questions will be answered when you come to see Cats the Musical this Friday-Sunday at the SHS Schnirring auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and are Available in the main office or at each performance. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30pm. Sunday matinee at 2:00pm.
Seniors - All permission slips signed by a parent/guardian for Senior Activity Days must be turned in by April 22nd to room 169. All statements of verification must be turned in after the two activity days with signed letters on company/school/organization letterhead stating what you did during the activity days.
