Parents - Springfield Public School District 186 plans to begin using text notifications for weather cancellations, significantly late busses*, and other important messages. If you are interested in receiving text notifications, please use one of the two sign up options - complete the form you will be receiving in the mail and turn it back into the school OR if you have access to your student's electronic cumulative folder you may sign up online through the District Information System. Please be aware that, if you choose to sign up for text notifications, you may receive both a phone call and text message from Parentlink (automated phone service) whenever automated messages are utilized. *Late bus notices are based on the communication District 186 receives from First Student.
Seniors who still need to get their senior picture taken to BE included in this year's yearbook - Today & tomorrow after school until 5 PM you can walk-in into Class Act photography at 484 South Durkin Drive, pay your $15 sitting fee and get your picture taken. Any questions, call 787-4947.
Seniors - To be included in this year’s yearbook, senior baby pictures and the $10 fee must be turned in to Mrs. Eslahi by December 19th.
A reminder that after school tutoring is available in the cafeteria Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30

Seniors interested in exempting up to 3 of their first semester finals should report to the guidance office and pick up a form. This form must be signed by each teacher and a parent or guardian, and returned to the Guidance Office no later than Thursday, December 11th by 4:00 pm. No Exceptions. Please remember that just getting the form completed, and turning it in does not guarantee that you will be able to exempt the final. You will be notified of your final exemption status either way, by Tuesday, December 16th.
SENIORS: The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation Scholarship packet is now available on the SHS Scholarship Database. Applications for the LLCC Honors Program are within the scholarship packet. All materials are due March 2, 2015. Mrs. Povse has hard copies of the recommendation forms if you need them.

Attention all World Travelers!! It's not too late to sign up for this summer's European Vacation to Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. We will be taking a ten day trip on an excursion of a lifetime. This trip is scheduled from June 9th thru June 18th of this summer (2015). You will want to act fast and see Mr. Telger in room 312 so you can set up your own payment plan and get your name on the list before it is too late. Attention students & teachers: The SHS Do Something Club is hosting a Toy Drive for needy kids. SHS families in need will get first dibs at picking a toy, and remaining toys will be donated to Contact Ministries. No need to wrap the gift. Just choose & label the gift as boy or girl, and the age from zero to 15 years old. No Weapons or Violent Toys Accepted. The Superintendent's Roundtable will meet today from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Grant Middle School library. Students with an interest in leadership and student matters are encouraged to attend.
All Soccer Players need to turn in uniforms to Room 404. Banquet form is due by Friday, December 12th.

All football players make sure to get a form for Awards Night which we will be held this Sunday, December 14th, 3-5pm @ SHS Commons! Make sure all your fees are paid and equipment is turned in if you are planning to attend.
Last Saturday, the Senators Boys Swim team placed 3rd in a 10 team Invite at Macomb HS. While there were many impressive swims, Gage Hamill’s 2nd place finish in the 100 fly and Jake Frech’s 500 free style stood out. Sterling Baldwin stepped up to the plate in the 200 free relay, along with Jake Freer, Gage and Baz Jennison. The 400 free relay also competed well, placing 3rd with Gage Hamill, freshman Jude Kneller, Andrew Opfer and Evan Weller.
The Senators swimming and diving team trounced the Bloomington Raiders in a dual meet Tuesday, winning 9 of the 12 events. There were exceptional swims by both medley relay teams of Evan Weller, Eric Wise, Gage Hamill, AND Sterling Baldwin and Tommy Rivera, Andrew Opfer, Josh Moore, and Jake Freer. Gage then won he 200 IM in 2:04. Freer, Baldwin, and Wise went 1-2-3 in the 50. Atticus won diving. Then Baz, Freer and Patrick Schoenberg went 1-2-3 in the 100 free. Andrew Opfer won the 100 fly and the 100 breast, then anchored a 400 free relay.
