JUNIORS-The Sangamon CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) Program is a year long class that allows high school seniors to experience the entrepreneurial challenges & rewards of running a business. Business owners share their knowledge & experience with students who then utilize what they learn to create a real business with real money, including branding & logos, business & marketing plans, etc. which they present to bankers, and then exhibit in a trade show at the end of the spring semester. The informational meeting is on Thursday, February 12; 5:30 to 6:15 pm at University of Illinois-Springfield Brookens Auditorium. The event is open to all Sangamon County juniors in high school and their parents. Please attend to learn more about this exciting entrepreneurship program for high school students. No R.S.V.P. is necessary. Please see Mr. Williams if you have questions.

The Public Information Sessions for Springfield Area high school students interested in applying for the Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) student exchange in Ashikaga, Japan will be held Wednesday, February 18. Springfield has been a Sister City to Ashikaga, Japan since 1990 and has been sponsoring student exchanges for 25 years. The 11-day exchange is a total immersion experience, including living with a Japanese family and attending school. Teens 4 Jeans! Aeropostale and Dosomething.org have teamed up for the 8th annual Teens for Jeans. The Teens for Jeans campaign is designed to bring everyone together for the common cause of getting jeans in the hands of teens in need. Getting involved is simple!! Donate ANY BRAND, ANY SIZE, ANY COLOR of gently worn jeans. You can drop them off in a bin outside the main office until February 10th. Aeropostale, Inc and Dosomething.org will ensure that all donated jeans will reach a local teen shelter in Springfield. Why we do it: Teen homelessness continues to be a huge crisis in the United States and Canada. In the US 1 out of every 3 homeless people are under the age of 18, most are between the ages of 15 and 17.

Students, Please participate in the Maya Angelou Essay and Poster Contests. For more info, see the posters in the hallways or Mrs. Eslahi in room 254.
