Delta Sigma Theta for African Americans and Sigma Nu Fraternity for males going to UIUC. Be reminded that March 1 is the deadline for many scholarships on the database.
Seniors applying for the Plato and Flora McCourtney: a new version of the scholarship in pdf form is now on the database which will enable you to complete it online rather than on paper.
SENIORS: If you have not yet completed the FAFSA be aware that many schools require FAFSA completion by the end of February. Don't miss out on FREE money! If you need assistance see Mrs. Povse ASAP.

Juniors-FREE ACT EXAM here at Springfield HS on Mar 3rd & 4th. Everything, including pre-registration, will be done here at SHS so no need for you to do anything but make sure you are here at school on Mar 3rd & 4th and plan Dr. appointments for other days. Juniors and Seniors who signed up for the College Summit at Lincoln Land Community College: the date has been changed to March 5. You will receive a note next week telling you where to meet. The bus will leave at 8:30 and return at 2:30.
Memorial Health System's is sponsoring Teens Experiencing Nursing, a 4 day summer camp from July 13-July 16. 30 area teens will be selected. If you want to job shadow nurses and learn more about the nursing career get an application and fill it out before April 3rd. PORTA Pool in Petersburg, IL, will sponsor the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Certification Course April 1 through April 6. The course will prepare participants to work as trained lifeguards. Participants must be 15 years old by April 6, 2015, and must attend all class sessions. Sessions will be held on April 1, 5:30 - 9:00 p.m.; April 3, 4, and 6, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Cost of the course is $210.00, due at time of registration. Recertification of currently certified lifeguards will be held simultaneously with this course for a cost of $150.00. Extreme bowling is back! Come show off what skills you have developed from PE with the Class of 2016 who is hosting a two hour bowling party at Strike’n’Spare West. It is this Sunday evening, March 1st from 10 PM - Midnight. We do not have school Monday so come out and have fun with your SHS classmates. $12 covers all costs. Last time we hosted this event all 32 lanes sold out and everyone had a great time. See Mr. Kramer or a class officer for info. Tickets will be sold this week and at the door.
