Homeroom schedule today.

Permission forms for anyone bringing a guest to Prom who is not a Springfield High student, are now available in the Main office. Guests must be at least in ninth grade, and not older than 19.

Summer School applications have arrived, and they can be picked up in the Guidance Office or Main Office.

Reminder to seniors: The Sangamon County Scholarship for low income entries is due Friday, May 7. SLICE has $40,000 to award to students in financial need. Get your application from Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse.

Seniors: The following scholarships are available from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Georgia Pillow Rountree Scholarship awarded to a student who will attend a historically black college or university;
Alma Taylor Jones Scholarship is awarded to a student who is majoring in education and plans to teach as a career;
General Scholarship-awarded to student(s) based on the discretion of the scholarship committee and based on availability of overall scholarship funds. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. Deadline is May 10.

SENIORS: Frontiers International announces a scholarship for students who will be entering a college or university in the fall and who need assistance with the cost of tuition. The scholarship is paid directly to the school. GPA of "C" or better, demonstrate community involvement, and an essay on why you should be considered for this scholarship. Deadline is May 14. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for application.

SENIORS: The Springfield Urban League is offering the following scholarship:
For graduating seniors who have maintained a "C" average during junior and senior years, are accepted to a college or university and who demonstrate financial need. Application, essay, interview (interviews will be held June 2 and 3). Deadline is May 21. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for application.

The Senator Senior Survey will be distributed during homeroom. Please fill them out and return to Ms. Negele’s room, room 362, by Friday, May 7.

FYI: Senior Meeting on Thursday May 13-caps and gowns will be delivered after the meeting.

Attention Seniors! There is a Senior Trip to the St Louis Zoo planned for Friday, May 14. You must pay $6 to reserve your spot. We are only taking the first 80 seniors, so sign up in the commons during lunch!

Tickets are available for the Golden Laurel Awards Ceremony to be held May 12 honoring National Honor Society seniors who will graduate as members of the Class of 2010. You can pick them up for $5 each from the main office, Mrs. Ruedin in Room 360 or Ms. Hubbard in Room 160.

Attention NHS juniors: you will meet today, to submit your five hours for April. Please meet after school immediately after school in Rm 360 to submit your hours and receive updated information if you missed this mornings meeting.

JUNIORS: An informational presentation on Princeton University will be held Saturday, May 15 from 2-4 at Walter Payton College Preparatory High School in Chicago. See Mrs. Povse in Guidance for additional information.

Are you interested in photography, graphic design, or web design? Do you want to help run the school's web site? Then join the Webmasters next year. If interested, please see Ms. Fox in room 325.

If you are a Sophomore and have not taken Behind the Wheel, you should see Ms. Dvorak in room 128.

Sophomores! Class rings will be delivered on Friday, May 7 during both lunch shifts

Pizza! Pizza! Pizza! “Be A Senator” is selling Papa John’s Pizza for $2 a slice tomorrow during both lunch shifts. Remember Pizza tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow!

The Children of Haiti need our help! This Friday the Science department is helping out by selling Help for Haiti t-shirts for $10. You can purchase your shirt from any Science teacher or in the commons. Money due at the time of purchase

Chess Club will be meeting at 7:40 AM tomorrow in Dr. Lescault’s room.

There will be a MANDATORY meeting tomorrow for all freshman, sophomores or juniors who are interested in running for class officer position or student council representative for the 2010-2011 school year. The meetings will be in the Auditorium at 8:00, both lunch shifts or at 3:15. You must attend one of the meetings to get a packet. There are different guidelines and directions this year - if you do not attend the meeting then you will not get a packet. If you cannot attend any of the meetings then see me BEFORE the meeting. NO LATE PACKETS WILL BE HANDED OUT.

Attention SHS: Auditions for the three top choirs at Springfield HIgh start next Wed. Thurs. and Friday after school. You may audition for our award winning Ladies Show Choir, Scarlet Harmony , the NEW mixed show choir called "IN Session" and of course the Jazz ensemble; Seven and Senators. Please sign up for an audition time on the choir room door and If you have any questions see Ms. Elmore in the choir room. You don't want to miss this great experience!!!

The boys track and field team won their 2nd straight city title last night with a complete team effort. City champions for SHS were: Titus Hughes in the high jump; Jordan Collins in the 100; the 4x800 relay team of Sam Cross, Pat McHatton, Dave Thomas, and Nathan Hoffman; Justin Lee in the 800; Michael Simon in the 1600; and Tyler Pence in the 3200. The fresh/soph track team also defended their city title. Congratulations SHS boys track and field!
