SAVE THE DATE: FAFSA Workshop on Feb. 9, 6:30-8:30 in the Commons. If you need additional help in filing the FAFSA, don't miss this meeting.
The following scholarships are now available from Mr. Lawson:
1. The Orthopedic Center has a scholarship for Seniors majoring in a health-care related field.
2. The Orthopedic Center has a scholarship for a 2-sport athlete treated by an OCI physician.
3. A General Assembly scholarship for Raymond Poe & Rich Brauer which pays for the tuition at any State University.
A scholarship is now available from the Lions Club for a senior interested in the Health Care field, especially Sight & Hearing oriented fields. See Mr. Lawson
The Consumer Education Proficiency Exam will be on Wednesday, February 3, at 7:30 AM in the library. You can not be currently enrolled in a consumer education class and you can take the test only once per school year. Sign up in the Guidance office for your book.
Show that someone special you care. Valentine Rose Teddy Bears will be sold during lunch. Cost is $3.00.
Girls interested in engineering: Northwestern University is sponsoring the 39th annual Career Day for Girls on Feb. 27. Reservations are required and must be received by Feb. 12. See Mrs. Povse for application and details.
A $1000 scholarship is available to a senior female athlete who is in the top 10% of her class and is involved in school activities and has good citizenship. See Mrs. Stahly if you would like to be nominated for this scholarship through the LPGA State Farm Classic.
Scholarships of $7500 await 25 outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 nationwide. If you are a star both in the classroom and on the field, the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustaches of the Year Award Program may be for you. To find out more, go to bodymilk.com Deadline is March 5.
If you are interested in being on next year’s yearbook staff you must complete an application. You can get an application from your guidance dean, in the guidance office or in the main office. Applications are due no later than February 19.
German Club is showing the movie “Anatomie 2” in room 250 today right after school. Please pick up the parent permission form from Herr Koeppel. We hope to see you today!
Hey Hey Springfield High! JSA is holding a miniconvention at the State Capitol from 9:30 to 3:30 on January 30th. Come to hear Chris Britt, listen to or participate in debates, and meet kids from schools all over Illinois. It’s only $5.
JSA will have a meeting today to discuss moderating, parliamentary procedure, and the minicon this Saturday. Come for food & fun and bring your friends!

The Girls City Basketball Tournament continues tonight here at SHS. Come out and support our girls by wearing Red for the 7:30 game against SHG and tomorrow night wear White as they take on Lanphier at 7:30. Let’s continue to show why the Senators won the Spirit Award at the Boys tournament!
Teen Parents as teachers will be meeting tomorrow during both lunch shifts in room 150.
Men's soccer players: a representative from Blackburn College admissions and a coach from the men's soccer program will be here on Feb. 9 at 3rd hour. Sign up in Guidance to meet with these reps.
It's time for auditions for the Springfield High Musical "All Shook Up"" This is a faced paced, song filled, dancing show. All singer dancers and actors are asked to audition. Dance auditions will be Thursday Feb. 4. Sign up for a time slot on the choir room door. Vocal/Acting auditions will be on Friday Feb. 5, 3:30-8 PM. The Junior Class officers would like to thank all those who donating to the Red Cross collection Saturday night at Boys City Basketball Tournament. The grand total of the donations collected were $2380.18!! Again, a HUGE thank you to all who donated!
