Seniors interested in a business-related field within the state of Illinois can apply for the Kathryn Hansen $500 scholarship. Essay and 2 letters of recommendation. See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for the application. Deadline is Feb. 12, 2010.

The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation scholarship is now available. Students who plan to attend LLCC should get a copy from Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse. The scholarship is also available at www.llccfoundation.org Deadline is Feb. 1

SENIORS: Please check the scholarship bulletin board outside room 106 or the SHS online Guidance / scholarships site for new scholarship opportunities. New scholarships for students planning to enter teaching, physical therapy, occupational therapy, business, transportation or logistics, health care and Affiliation with the Scottish Rite Masons. Check with Mrs. Povse or Mr. Lawson for specifics.

SAVE THE DATE: FAFSA Workshop on Feb. 9, 6:30-8:30 in the Commons. If you need additional help in filing the FAFSA, don't miss this meeting.

The Math Club shirts are in. You can pick it up in Mrs. Pence’s room, room 210.

Attention German Club! We will be having a meeting in room 250 today right after school. We will be discussing activities and events for this semester. Hope to see you there.

Attn Students: If you have changed to a new Class- Please return the book back to the teacher of the old class.

Hey Hey JSA! We are having a debate today. Come for food and fun and bring your friends!

French Club will be having its annual café’ day after school tomorrow in room 268 until 4 PM.

We have a new food item to be sold tomorrow. The Junior Class is selling Burger King double cheeseburgers for $1.50. First come, first serve so you better hurry to the commons this Thursday. You may also pick up a fleece order form if you are a Junior and still haven’t ordered one.

Attention Class of 2013! If you are ordered a class t-shirt, and paid for it, please pick it up in room 352 during the day or after school. Get them this week please! Again, you only received a shirt if you pre-ordered and paid!

There will be a Rally Against Childhood Cancer meeting on Friday, January 15 in room 522. We will discuss our plan the next few weeks. Be sure to come please.

Show that someone special you care. Valentine Rose Teddy Bears will be sold during lunch beginning Jan. 19. Cost is $3.00.

Anyone wearing red or black Springfield shirt on Friday can sign up in Coach Reed’s room on Friday for a chance to win a Nike bag. Come support the Senators against the Chatham Titan on Friday night.

The SITE Club will be meeting in the library after school on Friday to plan activities for the rest of the year.

Girls interested in engineering: Northwestern University is sponsoring the 39th annual Career Day for Girls on Feb. 27. Reservations are required and must be received by Feb. 12. See Mrs. Povse for application and details.
The Lady Senator basketball team jumped out to a quick start and beat Lincoln 81 to 28. SHS was led in scoring by Demi VanDerWal with 17 points. Also in double figures, was Zahna Medley adding 14 and Kelly Korza chipping in 12. Next up for SHS is a game tomorrow in Jacksonville. Good job ladies.
