Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, April 13, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Students, You probably noticed the pennants on lockers representing where the seniors are headed in the fall. We are excited to celebrate their hard work for the past 4 years. Seniors- Please see Mr. Kyes for your locker pennant if you have made final college plans! If having your name on the pennant is a problem, please see Mr. Kyes.

Achtung Achtung German Club! We still have a few open spots if you are interested in joining us for our Bowling outing at Strike 'n Spare West on Friday, April 15. Please come and sign up in room 250 with a $5 deposit. Hope to see you there.

Attention boy and girl soccer player's Papa John's fundraisers are due immediately. Turn them in to Coach Phillips ASAP.

Leadership Intern program! Paid Leadership Intern positions are available at: University of Illinois Springfield. Pick up an informational flyer in the main office.

Juniors there will be free ACT help in the library from 4-5 pm for the rest of the week.

Seniors who plan on attending LLCC in the Fall- LLCC is offering a field trip on April 21 to any senior who needs to complete their Accuplacer Placement Testing. If you scored below a 22 on your ACT in Math, English, and/or Reading, you are required to take the Placement Tests. Please see Mr. Kyes in the afternoon for more information and for a permission slip.

Students in Mrs. Goff’s algebra 135 classes should report to the commons tomorrow morning for the PARCC test. Mrs. Goff’s freshmen algebra students will take the test during periods 1-3 and 5-7 Thursday and during periods 1-3 Friday morning. Please bring a pencil and headphones.

The varsity boys track and field team placed 3rd overall at the Solon/Lion Open last night at Memorial Stadium. First place finishers for SHS were: Heath Warren in the 800; Will Formea in the 3200; Matt Waldinger in the pole vault; and the 4x100, 4x200 relay teams of Nnamdi Onyewuchi, Eddie Smith, Wendel Burnes, and Deon Avant. The boys next compete at the Capitol City Classic on Saturday at Lanphier High School. The Fresh/Soph boys track and field team won the Solon/Lion Open last night at Memorial Stadium. First place finishers for SHS were: Qa'Ron Hawkins in the 400; Brady Malone in the 800; Cameron Jones in the long jump; and the 4x400 relay team of Elijah Williams, Alex Dickerson, Joseph Ratsch, and Kane Lockwood. The boys next compete on Saturday at the Capitol City Classic at Lanphier High School.

The Lady Senator softball team picked up a conference win yesterday against Jacksonville 11-3. Veronica Brown, Elise Caton, Ashley Robinson, and Kira Brown led the way with multiple hits. Kerrin Wantland hit her first ever home run! Kira Brown got the win pitching 7 innings and giving up only three runs. Congrats ladies!
