Good morning Springfield High! Today is Thursday, April 14, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

Students in Mrs. Goff’s algebra 135 classes should report to the commons this morning for the PARCC test. Mrs. Goff’s freshmen algebra students will take the test during periods 1-3 and 5-7 Thursday and during periods 1-3 Friday morning. Please bring a pencil and headphones.

Leadership Intern program! Paid Leadership Intern positions are available at: University of Illinois Springfield. Pick up an informational flyer in the main office.

Juniors there will be free ACT help in the library from 4-5 pm for the rest of the week.

Seniors who plan on attending LLCC in the Fall- LLCC is offering a field trip on April 21 to any senior who needs to complete their Accuplacer Placement Testing. If you scored below a 22 on your ACT in Math, English, and/or Reading, you are required to take the Placement Tests. Please see Mr. Kyes in the afternoon for more information and for a permission slip.

The class of 2017 will be selling delicious papa johns breadsticks TODAY during lunch in the commons. For only $3 you can get three breadsticks and sauce. Any questions see a 2017 class officer.

Congratulation to the Springfield High School IN Session Showchoir on an amazing competitions season. This past weekend, at the McKendree University Midwest Nationals, IN Session were name Grand Champion in the Tier 2 division, with Best Combo and Best Vocal sound. They were invited to Finals and placed 3rd runner-up overall! Also at this competition, Emma Bachman was name “Best Performer” and DJ Simmons received a $3,000 college Scholarship to attend McKendree University. What a great way to end the competition season! This year IN Session are setting records with 17 total awards from 6 showchoir competitions. They named “Grand champions” in their division 3 times; Have made finals 3 times; have been awarded “Best Vocal Sound” twice; “Best Tech Crew”, once and were named “Best Combo” five times out of 6 competitions. What a great year!
If you haven’t seen IN Session, you have one more chance….Come check out the IN Session showchoir in action at the SHS Spring Choral Concert on Thursday, May 12th at 7pm in the Schnirring Auditorium.
Want to be a part of the awarding-winning, Nationally ranked Showchoir?! Here is your chance. IN Session Showchoir auditions will be held on Wednesday, May 18th in the commons area. Callbacks and any overflow will be held on Thursday,May 19th in the choir room at 6pm. Auditions will be held in two sessions. Session1 “ from 3-5pm-current high school students, (suggested not required)Session 2 “ from 5:30-7:30pm “incoming freshmen overflow from session 1. vocal/dance/showchoir and/or choir experience is preferred but not required. Please come dressed in comfortable clothes that you can move around in.

The Lady Senator softball team completed a sweep of Jacksonville yesterday with a 6-5 come from behind win! Veronica Brown, Annabelle Hope, and Kira Brown all led the way with multiple hits. Ashley Robinson scored the winning run in the 7th inning after leading off with a double. Congrats ladies!
