You need a pass to meet with representatives. Please get your pass from Mrs. Povse in the Guidance Office. This is a great opportunity to get information about the colleges in a small group setting where you can get your questions answered.
The senior panoramic picture has been rescheduled for Friday, Oct. 9 (toga day) at 8:40 A.M.
Applications and informational packets are now available in the Guidance Office for the Youth Leadership Saturday Academy and the Illinois Department of Transportation Engineering Saturday Academy. All applications are due, to your guidance dean by Friday, October 9th! Don't miss out on this career exploration event!
This year’s Homecoming tickets will be on sale in the commons on both lunch shifts starting today through Spirit Week. Couples tickets are $15 and Single tickets are $10. You must present your SHS student ID in order to buy a ticket. Hurry and get them now, because all tickets will be $15 per person at the door. Don’t forget, homecoming is on Saturday October 10th, just a few weeks away!

Time to sign up for the Read for the Lifetime program. All readers will want to know about this fun and rewarding program. See Mrs. Dahmane in the library for details.
The Career Fair is today, in the Orr Building at the Fairgrounds.
The first college bus trips have been scheduled. Blackburn College, Oct. 27 from 9:00-2:00 and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Nov. 5 from 7:00A.M.-5:30. Permission slips are available in the Guidance Office. Grades will be checked before you are allowed to go. These trips do not count against your attendance.
CACC students do not have class Friday morning. That is a shortened schedule day at SHS. So be at school by 10:45 for fourth hour.
The yearbook staff is in need of senior baby pictures. Please submit your baby picture, with your name written on it, to Mrs. Devlin's mailbox in the main office by Oct. 16.
Juniors who would like to take the PSAT test should sign up in the Guidance office. The test costs $15 and checks should be made out to Springfield High School. The test will be given on Wednesday, October 14, in the commons at 8:30 AM.

Help fight childhood cancer and raise funds to find a cure! Come to Mr. Goff’s room, room 521 tomorrow after school for an informational and important meeting.
Rally up for Rally Burgers! The Junior Class of 2011 will be selling Rally burgers in the commons tomorrow. Cheeseburgers will be sold for $1.50 each on both lunch shifts. Get your Rally’s tomorrow!
Just a reminder! Any science student participating in the Butter Braids fundraiser, please have your order and money turned into your science teacher by Tuesday, October 13th. Thank you.
Pre-sale Tickets for this Friday’s night football homecoming/senior night game versus SHG will be on sale in the main office 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM . Tickets are $4 adults and $2 students.
Beginning next Thursday the 15th if you do not have all your medical information in with the nurse you will not be allowed back to school until everything is received. Please make sure if you have been sent a letter that it is taken care of ASAP because these absences will be UNEXCUSED!
Listen up all Senior Football players, Senior Cheerleaders, and Senior Poms! Please be sure to get a senior night info sheet from your coach or Ms. Kilby in the main office for Senior night this Friday. Turn these in ASAP to Ms. Kilby in the main office.

For students who are interested in DePaul University-a representative will be at Sacred Heart Griffin High School from 6:30-8:30 on Mon., Oct. 19. A representative from Notre Dame will be at St. Thomas More High School in Champaign on Tues., Oct 27 at 7:00.

The Cross Country team competed in the city meet at Lincoln Park yesterday afternoon. In the freshmen boys race; William Butler finished 1st place. The Varsity Girls team finished 1st beating SH-G by 1 point. Kirby Hale and Madie Alexander finished 1st & 2nd leading the girls to the City Title. The Varsity Boys team finished 1st. Justin Lee was the boys City Champion followed by Tyler Pence 2nd, Michael Simon 3rd & Cameron Stuva 4th place.
