Morning Announcements for Tuesday, May 19, 2009
Yearbooks are in and will be distributed today during lunch in the commons. If you purchased a yearbook you must present an ID and sign for your book. There are 270 extra books for sale. If you want to purchase one the cost is $55 and we are accepting cash only.
College bound juniors: Are you interested in a $12,000 scholarship to Illinois College in Jacksonville? Do you meet 2 of the following criteria: rank in the top 10% of your class, have an ACT score of 25 or higher, have a core academic GPA of 3.5 on a 4pt. scale? See Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse for more information.
Attention all 2009-2010 SHS Scarlet Line Members. There will be an informational meeting Today. Scarlet Line Members should meet at 3:30 in the commons then parents and poms should return for the parent/member meeting from 5:30-6:30. Any questions see Coach Povse.
Attention Spanish Club members: Plan to attend the very last meeting of the year after school in Washington Park today. Meet at the playground area by 3:30 for games, snacks, and conversation.
Attention Spanish Club members: Check the participants list on the Club bulletin board and in the Spanish classrooms to see if you are eligible to join us for a free lunch at Los Agaves on Sunday, May 24th. Your $2 registration fee, which will be returned to you at Los Agaves, must be paid when you sign up by May 21st with your Spanish teacher.
The Jostens rep will be here on Wednesday May 20th in the MORNING FROM 7:30 to 8:30 ONLY. They will have the ring orders and it is an opportunity to order Graduation cap & gown.
German Club is showing the movie "Das Experiment" today right after school. Please see Herr Koeppel for the parent permission form. We hope to see you for the last movie this year.
German Club will be holding its elections for the new officers for next year on Thursday, May 21 right after school in room 262. Please come and vote.
Attention student traveling to Europe with Ms. Huffman in June. There will be a mandatory meeting in the cafeteria this Thursday at 6:00 pm. You must have a representative there.
Do Something is meeting tomorrow afternoon to finish the mosaic planter for Southwinds Park. We need your help to get this done. Please bring lunch money. We will meet in the dock area after school.
The boys track and field team competed at the central state 8 conference meet on Saturday morning after a rain delay Friday night. The boys fought through some minor injuries to place 2nd to Chatham Glenwood. Earning all conference honors for the Senators were: Brandon Stewart in the 800, and 4x800, Michael Gambach in the 4x800, Brad Walwer in the 1600, Justin Lee in the 4x800, Matt Havey in the 3200, and Michael Simon in the 4x800. SHS Athlete of the meet went to Daine Bealon for his huge performance in the shot put. Up next for the senators is a shot at a sectional title on Friday night at memorial stadium. Come out and support SHS!
