Monday, November 24th Jostens will be in the building for meetings with all graduates to discuss ordering caps and gowns and any graduation extras you might like. The meetings will be 2nd and 5th hours. Seniors are to report to class and wait to be called to the auditorium,
SENIORS: If you are looking for scholarships, check out the SHS website under Guidance and click on scholarships. Every scholarship that comes to the school will be listed as we receive them. See if you are a qualifier for any of them and get your applications from Mr. Lawson or Mrs. Povse.
The Odd Fellows have a scholarship based on need and ability. See Mr. Lawson for the website.
Interested in going to the most historic inauguration of all time? The Springfield Urban League and the Boys & Girls Club invite you to Inauguration 2009! Come explore Washington DC and see our 44th President Barack Obama sworn in. Information packets are available in the Guidance Office and the Main Office. Please see Ms. Johnson in room 160 after school with any questions.
Blood Drive on Tuesday, November 25th, from 9am-2pm Students & staff will have an opportunity to donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center. Students must be 16 or older. Students aged 16 must have a parental consent form signed by a parent or guardian. The sign-up sheet, parental consent form, and information sheet can be found in the Guidance Office. You can sign up during lunch, before school, or after school, and everyone must sign up by 3:30 pm on Monday, November 24th. If there are questions, please see Mr. Williams.
Be A Senator is hosting a t-shirt design contest. We are asking you to design a one-sided shirt promoting Be A Senator'! All artwork must be submitted to Ms. Greco in room 256 by Friday, December 5th. The winner will receive a free t-shirt and $25.
Capture The Flag has been cancelled for Thursday night. It will be rescheduled after Winter Break.
Operation Smile will have a meeting Thursday after school in room 366. New members are welcome!

Attention all boys interested in competing on the SHS Swimming and Diving team. This Thursday evening, November 20, at 7pm in the Commons, there will be a meeting for all athletes, and their parents, who want to compete on the Swimming and Diving team. The meeting will include an introduction of the coaches, and returning swimmers and divers. This will also be an opportunity to answer any questions about the upcoming season. Practices start next Monday at 3:45 pm at Eisenhower Pool.
All football players need to see coach Taylor sometime today if you HAVE NOT turned in your banquet reservation. It is very important that we get it sometime today. This includes all freshman and sophomores football players.
The SHS Scholastic Bowl team continued their winning ways by defeating Lincoln and Jacksonville last night. The team was not seriously tested for the 3rd straight week. Senior Carl Butt continued his dominance of conference opponents by answering 20 of the 43 questions he heard. The JV team got their first conference win by defeating Lincoln, but fell to conference leader Jacksonville. Next up the JV travels to Lincoln on Saturday for the conference tournament while 3 of the varsity members head to the suburbs of Chicago for the New Trier Solo tournament. 128 of the best players in the state will gather for 1 on 1 competition. Good luck to all competitors this weekend.
