Morning Announcements for Friday, October 3
The Education Fair for Juniors and Seniors will be on Wednesday, October 8th, at the Fairgrounds between 12:30 PM and 2 PM. Interested students should pick up a parent permission slip in the Guidance office and return it to the Guidance office BEFORE Monday, October 6th. The Students will be dismissed after 3rd hour and will not return to school. To be excused the permission slip must be returned and the students must sign in to an administrator at the Orr Building. If you need transportation, see Mr. Lawson. This year an evening session for parents is from 5 PM to 7 PM.
The Consumer Education Proficiency exam will be given on Tuesday, October 7th at 7:30 AM in the library. You cannot take the exam if you are currently enrolled in consumer education and you can only take one exam per school year. The exam will also be given in January. If interested sign up in the Guidance department to receive your consumer education book.
Now accepting open enrollment for 21st Century After School Program here at Springfield High! We offer individualized tutoring instruction as well as a host of enrichment activities to take place throughout the coming weeks. All students all welcome. Please come to room 160 by 3:20 pm Monday through Thursday to enroll. Ms Johnson is looking forward to hearing from you!
Sign up in the SHS library for the Read for a Lifetime program from the Illinois State Library. Sign up deadline is Oct. 20. See Mrs. Dahmane for all the details and the reading list.
Attention Seniors who are applying to colleges - PLEASE bring Mr. Lawson a stamped addressed envelope for the transcript or send the common application to Mr. Lawson through email.

The Class of 2011 T-shirts are in. If you ordered one, you can pick it up during lunch in the commons this Friday. If you would like to buy one, they are $10 and can also be purchased this Friday at lunch.
Come Tailgate with Blake from 5-7 PM before our undefeated Senators take on the Lanphier Lions tonight at Memorial Stadium. There will be t-shirts and prizes available! Also, for $7 you can purchase one of 50 chicken dinners and support Children's Miracle Network while you enjoy a ½ baked chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and bread& butter from Nelson's catering. So remember Tailgate with Blake starting at 5 tonight!
Yesterday at Bunn Golf Course, the boys golf team captured their first ever Central State 8 Conference championship, defeating runner up SH-G by three strokes. Robby Hill shot a one over par 73 and took home medalist honors. Fellow sophomore Chase Tate fired a career best 75 and placed fourth. George Tate came in with a 78, and Troy Klunick, who was four over after just three holes, went one under over the next 11 and came in with an 82. Tomorrow, the boys travel to Taylorville for the Lake Shore Invitational. Great job guys.
Congratulations to the Girls Swim team for posting another win on the road. The Lady Senators beat Lincoln Community High School 113-106 in a great meet in Lincoln last night. Congratulations to the following first place finishers at last nights competition: Amanda Zoschke - 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, Caroline Brunson - 200 Freestyle, Chris Rendleman - 1 meter Diving, Kate Rendleman - 500 Freestyle, Sophie Lamsargis, Amanda Zoscke, Caroline Brunson and Casey Davis for the 200 IM Relay. Come cheer the Swimmers on Monday at Eisenhower Pool where they face Macomb - 4pm.
Hey do you love to swim? Love to do flips and twists from a diving board? Then come to the first boys' swimming/diving meeting today in the commons after school. We will discuss the upcaoming season and what you should expect. If you cannot make it, talk to seniors David Merrill, AJ Steiner, Brad Walwer, or Nick Zyznieuski before the end of the day!
Yesterday at the CS-8 match at Piper Glen Golf Course the lady Senators finished 3rd place. Leading the way and receiving all conference honors was Rebbecca Ramirez with a 97, followed by Andrea Ribelin with a 98 and Tess Edwards with a 99.
