Morning Announcements for Tuesday, September 23
Attention Small Learning Community C Students! If you are planning on graduating in December and have not completed an early grad contract, see Mr. VanDiver in the Guidance Office this week.
Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - Today at 9:00 MacMurray, and Wednesday 9:00 U of Champaign, Sept. 29th 9:00 Eastern Illinois University, and Sept. 30th Lunch LLLC. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!
All College Applications, which include a stamped, addressed envelope, and possibly a secondary school report, and a paper copy of the common application should go to Mr. Lawson. Once accepted to college, students should stop by the Guidance office to record the schools that accepted them.

Springfield Idol! You don't have to go to St Louis or Chicago to audition for SHS Idol! We will be crowning the first SHS Idol on October 27th in our very own auditorium. Auditions will be held on today, tomorrow, and Thursday to determine who will be in the talent show. Auditions will be held after school in the choir room. Please sign up for a ten minute time slot. Only 18 acts will go to the final round on October 27th. You can sing, dance, play an instrument, or do a dramatic reading. Solo's, duets and trios, will be eligible. There will be prizes for First, Second and Third place and a special prize for the "People's Choice". Three celebrity judges from the community will decide the FIRST SHS Idol. Students who are 18 or will turn 18 before November 4th can register to vote Thursday, September 25th in the commons during both A & B lunch. You will need to bring two forms of identification with you such as, your driver's license or state ID, or student ID and proof of residence. Remember, your vote DOES count. Come sign up so you can exercise your right to vote in the 2008 Presidential Election.
Interested in a career in engineering, geology, road or bridge construction, aviation? These are just some of the jobs to be showcased at the Illinois Dept. of Transportation Career Day, Oct. 2. There are still spaces on the bus. Get your permission forms in Guidance and get them back to Mrs. Povse ASAP. A free lunch is provided by IDOT.
Be A Senator will be selling Papa John's pizza tomorrow in the commons for both lunch shifts.
Attention Spanish Club members: The last day to order club t-shirts is Friday, September 26th. Sign up in room 260 today!
Attention German Club! There will be a short meeting in room 262 on Wednesday night after school. We will talk about the up-coming German Club kick-off party this Saturday.
Operation Smile will hold an informational meeting on Thursday after school in room 336. We will discuss officer elections and planning this year's fundraising events.
Attention JSA! Join us BEFORE school on Thursday for "Donuts and Discussion." We will hear from Mr. Schoenburg, the political columnist from the SJ-R, and breakfast will be provided! Come at 7:30 to Mr. Lightfoot's room, 330. See Alicia Pettys or Mr Lightfoot for more information.
The Girls Tennis Team is having a great season. Last week they defeated Lincoln, U-High, and Lanphier. Over the weekend the girls won the Bloomington Gold Invitational and all 3 doubles teams won their final. Last night they beat Quincy Senior in a dual meet to improve their record 5 - 0. After school they play Bloomington High School at Washington Park. Good luck and great job!
Attention baseball players. All sophomore, junior, and senior baseball players not currently playing a sport should attend a short meeting in coach's room (room 320) to go over directions for helping with Men's Night Out on Thursday.
Boys Soccer invites everyone to Fan Appreciation Day. Our Tuesday game against Lincoln Community High School will have FREE ADMISSION for all. The games are at Lee Field; JV at 5 PM and Varsity at 6:30 PM.
