It's that time of year again! The sign-up for this year's version of HIGH PRIDE will be tomorrow after school in Coach Reed's room 228. There will be a drawing for free pizzas at that time. If you can't make it, sign up with Coach Reed at another time
Representatives from Illinois Department of Transportation will be in the commons today, September 2nd during both lunch shifts to hand out information about the Engineering Saturday Academy to those interested.
Attention Girls basketball players not involved in a fall sport: There will be an open gym today after school until 5:00. Any questions see Coach Scheffler in Room 264.
Anyone interested in being a member of this year's Scholastic Bowl team needs to attend a meeting after school on Thursday in Mr. Adkins' room 230. The meeting will last about 30 minutes. If you play a fall sport and cannot attend the meeting, please see Mr. Adkins sometime next week.
There will be an informational meeting regarding Chess Club, today after school in room 524. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. Also, all of the freshmen who signed up last year during activities night, should attend this meeting. If you can't attend this meeting, go to room 524 and talk to Mr. Szabo
There will be a meeting of the Environmental Club tomorrow after school. The meeting will be in Ms. Vander Leest's room, Room 510. Anyone who is interested in joining the Environmental Club please come.
Applications for Spanish Club are now available from the Spanish teachers. Complete a form and turn it in with your $6 dues no later than Friday, September 12. Our first meeting will be Tuesday September 16th.
Seniors - Picture ID's will be taken today in the auditorium. Schedules should be posted in classrooms. Report to the auditorium at your scheduled time. Seniors must also get your senior picture for the yearbook taken by Class Act Photography by Sept. 30. If you haven't had your senior picture taken contact Class Act asap.

Attention Attention Juniors and Seniors! The following schools are scheduled to visit: - Today at lunch Engnr Saturday Academy, September 8th at 9 AM U of I Springfield. September 9th at 9 AM is Springfield College, September 10th Vanderbilt, TN, and September 11th Washington U. Don't forget that passes are not required for lunch visits but you must have a pass from the guidance office up to the day before to attend the college sessions! Calendar and posters are on the Senior bulletin board, located by the Guidance office door, will have date and time the university or college will be in the building. Please ask Mrs. Sharp in the Guidance office for a college pass to attend these sessions!

Attention Sophomores who have yet filled out their permit application. You need to see Ms. Dvorak in room 128 as soon as possible, or you may not receive your driver's license on time.
Any Senior who would like to retake the ACT and the State test should see Mr. Lawson for a voucher. The FREE ACT will be given on Saturday, October 25th and on Tuesday, October 28th, the state test will be given at SHS.
This November we will all witness history. We will have either the first African-American president or the first female vice-president in our nation's history. This is the perfect chance for you to learn more about the candidates and the issues the issues that are important to young people all around the country by joining the Junior State of America. Come to out first meeting on this Thursday after school in Mr. Lightfoot's room, 330. We will be enjoying some food and discussing this year's activities. If you are interested in joining JSA, but are unable to come please talk to Alicia Pettys or Mr. Lightfoot.
Homecoming court elections will be held on both lunch shifts this Friday in the commons. Seniors will nominate 8 couples and juniors will nominate 2 couples. Don't forget to vote Friday at lunch.
The SHS girls tennis team won the Springfield Invitational this weekend. Singles champions were Mia Elmore, Laura Shull, Jane Dixon, Olivia Rosen, and Farah Tammuziddin. Elmore and Shull teamed up to win #1 doubles, Dixon and Rosen won #2 doubles and Sarah Agamah and Lauren Harbison won their flight at #3 doubles. Great Job Springfield!
The boys golf team swept their quadrangular match at Bunn on Friday, beating Southeast, Lanphier and Lutheran to start 3 - 0 on the season. George Tate tied for medalist honors, firing a 1 under par 35. Troy Klunick came with a 37, while Robby Hill and Matt Ruff both shot 38's. Today, the Senators take on SH-G, Glenwood and Southeast at Piper Glen starting at 4:00.
