Good morning Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, November 9, 2016 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

The Capitoline Yearbook is on sale now for $60; in January, the cost will be $70. If you do not have the full amount now, you can pay 1/2 now and the rest later.
Seniors, get your baby pictures in to Mrs. Eslahi in room 254 before Thanksgiving break. The cost is $10.

Get your portraits taken before the Holiday break. Call Grussenmeyer Class Act Photography at 787-6688 to set up your sitting. The cost is $18.

FREE T-SHIRTS FOR BLOOD DONORS!! Staff & Students 16 or older can donate blood to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center on Tue., Nov 22, from 8:30am-2:00pm, in the Auditorium. Students aged 16 must have a signed parental consent form. You must sign up during lunch-in the Commons, before school or after school-in the Guidance Office by 3:30 pm on Monday, Nov 21. Teachers & Staff do not need to sign up, you can report to the Auditorium at your convenience. Blood donations SAVE LIVES! Any questions-please see Mr. Williams.

Seniors interested in applying to LLCC- scholarships are now available. Please see Mr. Kyes as soon as possible! These scholarships will be due soon!

Hey hey hey JSA! meeting is today after school in the library on the third floor! Freshman through seniors who like to argue welcome! Hope to see you there!

The Booster Club’s annual Dodgeball Tournament will be held this Thursday, November 10th at 7pm in the SHS gymnasium. (There is no school Friday) Registration and waiver forms are available on the school website and in the main office. Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed. Entry is $5 per player, except for the Freshmen they are free! May the best team win!

ATTENTION: ALL 10th graders who have NOT yet taken behind the wheel; YOU NEED TO STOP BY MS. DVORAK’S class, room 128 on your lunch period.

Seniors - it is YOUR responsibility to check your attendance with regards to 1st semester exam exemptions. Remember, you may exempt up to 3 exams first semester. You must have an A or B both quarters to initially qualify. You may have only 4 excused absences in a class you are hoping to exempt; in-house counts as an excused absence. You may have 2 college visits (forms must be completed, signed and turned into Ms. Greco). If you have ANY unexcused absences at all, you will be taking ALL of your semester exams.

The following colleges will be visiting SHS this week. Please see Ms. Hurley or Mrs. Kontio in the guidance office or Mr. Kyes in room 153A for a pass. THURSDAY- St. Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Indiana) during 5th hour.

Achtung German Club! Atención Spanish Club! If you would like to play Capture the Flag on Wednesday, November 16, please bring a deposit of $5 and see Herrn Koeppel in room 250 or Señor Reichert in room 260 to sign-up after school today, November 9. We need 10 upperclassmen, 10 underclassmen, 1 referee and 6 adults per team. Be quick to save your spot on your team.

Attention SHS: 2018 class shirts are now on sale to everyone (incluing parents) for $10 each. Sale ends November 16th . Get an order form in Guidance. Don’t miss out, you’re only a junior once.

All girls interested in participating in Track and Field, there will be a girl’s track and field meeting after school Tues. Nov. 15th, in room 326. If you are unable to make meeting, please contact Coach Bunch so that you can receive information.

High Pride order forms can be picked up in Mr. Kramer’s room (326) or Ms. Troike’s room (258).

Great night in SHS Scholastic Bowl in CS8 Conference play! Varsity won all 3 games: 240-50 over Decatur MacArthur, 240-150 over Lincoln, 310-40 over Decatur Eisenhower. JV won all of their games as well: 400-80 over MacArthur, 390-110 over Lincoln and Eisenhower doesn’t have a JV team so there was no competition. Thank you to our principal, Ms. Leardi for coming out to support us! You must be our good luck charm! JV travels to Jacksonville to the CS8 JV tournament on Saturday. Good Luck!!.

Freshmen and Sophomore JV Scholastic Bowl team members, there is practice Thursday. Saturday the bus leaves for Jacksonville at 7am for the CS8 JV Tournament from the commons.

Showchoir will have rehearsal on Thursday night.

Senior Midfielder Tyler Shekleton was named to the Chicago Fire Academic All-State team. Congratulations Tyler!!
