Attention Seniors! Please remember to turn in your permission form for the Senior Service Day to be held on April 5th. Forms must be signed by your parent/guardian and turned into the guidance office no later than 4:00 on April 3rd for the absence to be considered as an Activity. See Ms. Greco with any questions.
Are you interested in joining the newspaper class for next year? If so, you must complete and turn in an application by Wednesday, March 29. Applications can be picked up from Ms. Negele in room 362. You cannot be enrolled in the class without completing an application and making it through the selection process. This is an amazing class… just ask Keiler!

Attention Juniors: The Board of Education is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Student Board of Education Member. Applications and additional information can be found on the Springfield High School Guidance Center’s webpage or by speaking with your guidance dean. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. on April 7.
Applications are being accepted for the 2017-2018 Student Board of Education member through April 7, 2017. The position is open to current Springfield Public School juniors that will be seniors during the 2017-2018 school year. This year, applicants are required to submit their application electronically. A link to the application and more information regarding the position can be found on the district website.
The girls track & field members who qualified in the Illinois Top Times indoor State Champion Meet had and extremely great meet4x200 relay of Chieme Udaku, Shay Doty,Lauren Ferguson, Ozzy Erewelle turned in the fastest time in the indoor season and Ozzy Erewelle became the new indoor State Champion setting a new Meet Record, Ladies Congratulation you did Springfield High School proud and Ozzy welcome to the fraternity of track and field State Champions
The baseball team split a Friday night doubleheader with Quincy winning the first game 9-5 and then losing their first game of the season in extra innings by an 8-6 score. Tanner Eddings, Austin Alderman, Damian Pierce, and Will Reiser all had two hits apiece to lead game one, as Rico Johnson picked up his first win as a varsity pitcher with two innings of scoreless relief. Jimmy Hollahan had two hits in game two. Next up is Jacksonville at Lanphier Park tomorrow at 4:30.
It has come to my attention that there is a parking issue in the 100 block of N. Parker Ave. It is a residential permit area and only those with a permit can park on the streets. Please do not park in those parking areas. I was advised that starting Tuesday 3/28/17 The Springfield Police Department will start issuing citations for vehicles that park in those assigned spots without a permit. Thanks, Officer Holt.
The SHS boys track and field team had 2 competitors at the indoor top times championships on Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan. Sophomore Robert Williams finished 9th in the 60 Hurdles and Junior Wendel Burnes finished 19th in the 60 dash. The boys will next compete in the first outdoor meet of the season at Taylorville on Thursday. They will then host the SHS Open at Memorial stadium on Saturday.
