Good morning Springfield High! Today is Friday, September 29, 2017 where successful Senators follow the classroom and school wide expectations and allow for learning all throughout the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!

"Are you interested in the medical field? If so, the Pre-Health Club is meeting October 2nd in room 521 after school. Come to meet accomplished doctors and medical personnel to discover the many fields of medicine. Contact Ellie Thomson for more information."

Attention those interested in nursing: St. John’s College of Nursing will be hosting an open house on Monday, October 16th. There are two sessions available. See the special programs page on the guidance webpage or Mrs. Lauer for details!

Juniors & Seniors interested in attending the Capital Area Education/Career Fair at the State Fair-Orr Building on Wednesday, October 4th should've received a permission slip in their English classes. If not, stop by the Guidance Office.  Students will leave school at 11:57 pm or after 4th period.  In order for this to be coded as an activity, students must have turned in Signed permission slips by Monday, October 2nd, 3:30 pm-no exceptions.  Students check in with their Guidance Dean at the Orr Building. STUDENTS MUST BE PASSING ALL CLASSES TO ATTEND.

"Homecoming tickets are being sold all week at Lunch. 25 dollars for couples and 15 singles. They will be sold at the dance as well but only singles for 20 dollars"

"If you would like to join high pride please pick up a membership form from main office or room 326, and return to Mr. Kramer in room 326 or a student council officer by Friday, September 29th."

Attention Freshmen - The freshmen class will be selling homemade cookies and rice krispy treats for tailgate on Friday. We are in need of freshmen to donate items. Please bring your baked goods to room Mrs. Kaiser in room 354 or Mrs. Devlin in room 121 by Friday noon.

Homecoming guest forms are available in the guidance office for any student bringing a guest from another school. Please have the forms completed with proper signatures and bring them with you to the dance along with your photo ID”s. It is very important that you and your guest provide identification. 

Attention seniors !!! — See Mr. Schurman / Mrs. Lauer  if you are interested in writing an essay for the DAR Good Citizen Program and Scholarship . Two national winners will be awarded $5,000.00 and invited to Washington DC to read the essay.

The Girls' Tennis Team moved to 4-0 in the conference and 5-1 overall with a 9-0 win against Jacksonville.  Sophia Roth, Maya Hofmann, Rachel Shelly, Emma Bolinger, Emma Batterman and Freya Jennison all posted wins in singles and doubles.  The Tennis Team's next match is this weekend at the Bloomington Purple and Gold Tournament.  

 If anyone is interested in hearing a presentation from the Army, they will have a recruiter presenting Monday, October 2nd during 5th hour in room 150. See Mrs. Lauer with questions! 

Yesterday at Bunn Golf Course, Springfield High finished in 2nd place in the Central State 8 Conference Tournament. Only perennial state power Normal U-High came in ahead of the Senators. Adler Boatman tied for 5th, shooting a 5 over par 77, and is on the all conference team.  Zach Richmond came in with an 82, with Jack Zerfas and Austen Floyd both carding 85's. Great job guys!

Do you like the quarterly rewards for good behavior and attendance?  Do you like the out of the blue rewards for being on time to 1st hour?  What about receiving a kind card or a senator shout-out?  If so, maybe you would also like to be a part of Be A Senator!  Be A Senator is a small group of students selected to promote positive behavior and expectations.  If you are interested in being a part of this organization, please pick up an application next week in the guidance office.  All applications are due next Friday, October 6.  Applications will be reviewed and students will be notified Friday, October 13.
