Come join the fun at the Springfield MS Society Boo Run 5K. It’s at Southward Park on Saturday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m.. Registration begins at 9, everyone is welcome - all ages - in costume or not in costume. Your participation and proceeds go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Run and help while having fun! Attention Seniors: Mrs. Lauer and Victoria Jones from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will be hosting a “College Changes Everything” Application Completion Day on Tuesday, October 31st in the Ghandi room. Student will have the opportunity to complete their college application with assistance available to ensure everything is done correctly! To sign up, see Mrs. Laurer in the post secondary office.
The capital area career center CACC will have an open house Thursday, October 19 from 5-7. Students who are interested in attending CACC next year are encouraged to attend.
Are you interested in pursuing a law degree and would like to experience a mock trial in a courtroom? The Illinois State Bar Association is going to host a mock trial competition for area high school students. Students gain experience by portraying an attorney, defendant, plaintiff, or witness. Please see Mrs. Gordy in the guidance office for more information if you are interested in participating in this event.
Vamos Spanish Club: Join your amigos to watch the movie”The Book of Life” after school on Thursday, October 19th in Room 116. Snacks and a good time are guaranteed. Nos vemos! (nose vaymose).

The yearbook spring supplement is in now for all who bought last year's yearbook. The yearbook staff will be in the Commons during both lunch shifts Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Stop by and pick up your copy.
Order your yearbook now in room 254. Make your check or money order for $60 out to SHS, or you can pay cash. In January, the cost rises to $70.
Seniors, Call Grussenmeyer Photography at 7876688 to schedule to have your portrait taken. If you want to have your baby picture in this year's Capitoline Yearbook, bring it and $10 to room 254.
SENIORS- November 15th will be a senior service day (the 9th - 11th grade will be doing a practice SAT test). Seniors can volunteer, job shadow or visit colleges. The permission forms will be in guidance, room 104, and must be signed and returned by November 9th in order for the senior day to count as activity. Get your form, get it in!
Pen in a Box club will be meeting after school today in the commons. It’s not too late to join! Snacks will be provided. Please come and bring a friend!

You must bring a flier with you, which can be picked up from the Main Office, Ms. Negele, Mrs. Taft, Mr. Kramer, or any 2020 class officer. Thank you for your support! Only two days left to get football playoff shirts in before the deadline so that you can get them back in time for the playoff game next week. Remember to turn your form and payment in to Mrs. Lauer or Ms. Negele only. Do not turn them in to the office.
Next Tuesday, Oct. 24, there will be an informational meeting about this year’s Fellowship of Student Athletes huddle in Mr. Lightfoot’s room, 330, after school. This will be an introductory and informational meeting only, so it will probably last only 15-20 minutes. If you are interested in FCA this year at Springfield High, please try to attend or talk to Mr. Lightfoot or Mr. Steinwart.
Seniors Clare Anders and Caitlin Zoschke were honored last night at the 2017 Girls City Swim Meet. The 200 yard medley relay of freshmen Kayleigh Minder, Kylie McMillan, Junior Healy Funderburg and Senior Caitlin Zoschke cut over 6 seconds off their time and placed fourth. Sophomore Katyln Bilinsky won the diving with a score of 224.65. Junior Stephanie Bilinsky placed third in diving with a score of 203.55. Sophomore Kayleigh Minder placed second in the JV 100 IM. Sophomore Rhiannon Roberts placed third in the JV 50 freestyle and the 50 backstroke. Freshman Maddie Sievers placed third in the JV 50 fly. Sophomore Grace Anders placed third in the 100 free. Junior Healy Funderburg placed third in the 500 free. Freshman Kylie McMillan placed 2nd in the 100 breaststroke and Senior Clare Anders placed fourth in the 100 breastroke. The 400 freestyle relay consisting of Healy Funderburg, Kayleigh Minder, Grace Anders, and Kylie McMillan placed third.
