Attention seniors: If you plan on attending Lincoln Land Community College in the fall and want to attend their Regular Prep Day on April 24th please see Mrs. Lauer this week! The event is for students who have already applied to LLCC. There, students will attend a new student orientation, take placement tests (if necessary), schedule a future appointment with an academic advisor, tour the campus, etc. Please see Mrs. Lauer in the post secondary office if you’re interested in attending!

Do you have what it takes to be a SHS cheerleader? Tryout clinics for the 2018-2019 SHS cheerleading teams will be held today and tomorrow from 5:00-7:30 pm in the gym. Tryouts will take place on Saturday, April 14th, beginning at 12:00 pm. All interested candidates are required to be present on tryout day. If you are motivated, dedicated and ready to represent our school with pride, then we want you! Please contact Coach Bryant with any questions.

The Lady Senator softball team lost a tough game last night to Rochester. The game was tied 1-1 in the final inning when the Rockets pulled away for a 4-1 win. Jaden Long and Elise Caton led the way at the plate. The rematch takes place tonight in Rochester.
The F/S boys Track and field team finished 2nd out of 5 teams at the Solon/Lion Open. Event champions for SHS were: Henry Kiing in the High Jump; Grant Thompson in the pole vault; the 4x400 relay ream of Henry Kling, Maurice Mosley, William Dejaynes and Jason Frazier; and the 4x800 relay team of Michael Natty, Jason Frazier, Grant Thompson, and Ben Kim.
The Varsity boys track and field team finished 3rd out of 5 teams at the Solon/Lion Open. Event champions for SHS were: Tyrone Treadwell in the triple jump; Robert Williams in the 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles, and the 4x800 Relay team of Matthew Abe-Bell, Will Formea, Barrett Karmann and Ryan Waldinger. The boys next compete at the Capital City Classic at Lanphier on Saturday.
The Springfield High School Varsity Boys Tennis Team competed in its second CS-8 conference meet of the 2018 season at Glenwood High School. The team won the meet finishing at 6-3 with Raj Sinha, Shaul Latif and Eric Martin posting dominating victories at singles. Matu Kristos and Zeke Cross came on strong and captured victories in singles as well. Each of the doubles teams faced stiff competition and came away with a combination of victories and losses. The pairs of Shaul Latif/Raj Sinha and David Jiang/Zeke Cross recorded wins while the teams of Matu Kristos/Eric Martin and David Ye/Brian Becker played close, hard fought matches. Junior varsity members Alex Millard, Vedant Amin, Mostafa Massoud, Ethan Sommer, Keegan Goswami, Judah Schleyhan, Carter Formea and Alfred Hofman played a series of doubles matches and came away with three exhibition match wins and an overall strong showing.
The SHS Baseball Team did a lot of things right despite an 11 to 2 loss to the Rockets of Rochester. While Ethan Doyle and Ben Hartl had the only hits for the Senators, several solid at bats were had up and down the line-up. Both the offense and the pitching stood out as strong points to build on for today's rematch in Rochester at 4:30.
