Juniors & Seniors - pick up your permission forms for April 9th in guidance. Juniors - yellow form, Seniors - orange form. You must have the forms in by the date on the bottom for a junior early dismissal that day or a senior Activity day. See Mr. Kyes, Mr. Williams or Dr. Leardi with any questions.
Any student who wishes to sign up for an AP test, needs to sign up in the Guidance office until Friday, March 22nd. The price for each exam is $94, unless you qualify for a reduced rate. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Smith or Mr. Barnes.
Seniors Jostens will be here on Thursday during lunch hours to deliver your graduation orders. Please pick up your order in the Commons.
Attention Juniors: The Board of Education invites interested current high school juniors to apply to become the 2019-2020 Student School Board Member. One junior will be chosen to serve during their senior year. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 and can be found on our school’s homepage. Please see Mr. Kyes or Mrs. Gordy if you are interested in applying.

Students parking lot checks have started. You may be towed if you are in violation. Remember if you are towed the tow bill will be your responsibility. Make sure that your parking permit is in the lower left hand corner of the front windshield.
Capitoline Yearbooks are still on sale at $70 a copy. If you don't have the full amount, you can pay a portion to secure a yearbook for you. Make your check or money order out to Springfield High School or bring your cash to room 254.
Tryouts for the 2019-2020 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up in the from Coach Jacobs, or from Coach Johnson in room 168. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting tomorrow at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons. This is a MANDATORY informational meeting for parents and candidates that will provide all the details of the 2019-2020 season. All candidates and parents are required to attend. Congratulations to the IN Session showchoir as they competed at the 41st Annual Watseka Sensation showchoir Invitational this past Saturday. They made finals in their Division, receiving Best Showchoir Band, Best choreography, Best Vocal Sound and were name GRAND CHAMPION! Special shoutout to Garrison Taylor for receiving Best Performer in a show. What a heck of a way to end a Wonderful showchoir competition season.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois (BGCCIL) in partnership with the City of Springfield and the Sangamon County Juvenile Justice Council, is hosting its 4th annual Teen Job Fair and Resource Expo. The event will take place April 5th from 6pm to 8:30pm at The Boys & Girls Club’s Central Unit, located at 300 S. 15th Street. Job seekers can get help filling out job applications, may receive on the spot interviews, and have a chance to enter multiple prize drawings. The event features many local employers and youth service organizations. The job fair will also include free food and beverages. This event is free to attend and geared toward teenagers 16-19 who are seeking employment or volunteer opportunities. Parents are also welcome to accompany their teen participant.
The Senators high school all-star hockey game is now scheduled for Wednesday at 7:45pm Nelson Center. Come on out and root for our students who play hockey. Student admission is $2.

Jared Grimble, 2006 Springfield High graduate and 3x Grammy credited artist is returning to his hometown of Springfield to put on a show of a lifetime. Joined along side him will be featured singers from recent seasons of The Voice and American Idol. A portion of the proceeds will be going to the American Lung Association. Jared Grimble graduated from Springfield High in 2006. He was involved choir, Seven and Senators and other musical activities at SHS. He is currently living in LA writing and recording music. He has participated in The Voice and American Idol. Saturday, 3/23 from 7:00-11:00pm at Crowne Plaza. Doors open at 6:45pm. The Varsity Springfield High Scholastic Bowl team defeated Dunlap, Glenwood and Macomb at Saturday's IHSA Sectional Tournament. Top Scorer for the Senators was junior, Aidan Fein with 23 toss ups. Freshman, Jack Casey contributed 6 over the three matches. Senior, Jack Allen and Sophomore, Maggie Sturm each scored 4 toss ups. The team will travel to the IHSA State Tournament on Friday, March 15 at the Peoria Convention Center, playing Stevenson High School, IMSA and the University of Illinois Lab School. The Senators have had a very successful season with 92 wins and 23 losses so far this year. In CS8 play they were undefeated, winning possession of the Barron Robinson Memorial Traveling Trophy at the Varsity CS8 Tournament in December. Go Senators!!! Please excuse all Scholastic Bowl team members to come to the main office following the Pledge of Allegiance.
