Signup is now available for the October 16th PSAT/NMSQT which is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The due date to sign up is Friday. Please sign up in the Guidance Office if you are interested. The cost of this test is $18.
The homecoming dance is September 21st at SHS. It’s going to be awesome. If you are bringing a guest from another school, you must get the blue guest form from the guidance office and have all information filled out correctly. ALL GUESTS MUST BRING A PHOTO ID WITH THEM.
If you are thinking about taking the October Saturday SAT, and you might be eligible for a fee waiver, please sign up ASAP with Mr. Kramer.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has been helping students explore the different aspects of engineering by having a“First Nighter” scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 at the IDOT Central Office, 2300 South Dirksen Parkway in Springfield. It will be an opportunity for students, their parents, and teaching professionals to ask questions and for the students to sign up for the Engineering Exploring Program. The participation fee for new Explorers is $60.00 (payable September 18th), which will cover registration fees and the Engineering Explorers Post 6 T-shirt. See Leardi if you have questions.
Rochester High is hosting a STEM fair tonight at 6:00 p.m. This event is free for families and showcases STEM opportunities and features drones, robots, environmental science and computer programming. To register, search RochesterSTEMFair on google or Facebook.

Calling all SHS actors and actresses! Fall Play auditions are quickly approaching. Auditions for this year’s show, The Outsiders, will be held on September 16th in the SHS auditorium after school. The show will be November 22-24. Please prepare a 30 second monologue and be ready to possibly do a cold read. Make sure to sign up on Mrs. Gerdes’s or Mrs. Eaton’s webpage! Junior & Senior girls - if you are playing in the Powder Puff football game this Sunday at 11:00 a.m., you must have your parent permission form turned into the main office by 3:30 on Friday. No one will be allowed on the field without proper paperwork for the Powder Puff.

The SHS girl’s golf team accomplished something they hadn’t been able to do in 10 years as they downed rival SHG by a score of 172 to 173 at Lincoln Greens last night. Glenwood finished 3rd in the triangular match with a score of 191. The match was nip and tuck all the way, but the Senators were able to escape with the victory despite above average scores from their number 1 and 2 golfers. Senior Jackie Romer stole the show with a stellar 39 to earn medalist honors. Her 39 was 3 shots better than any other player on the night. Junior Katie Milhiser and freshman Katie Chen also played well, carding 43 and 44 respectively. The team will look to keep their winning streak intact as they take on Williamsville and PORTA at the Rail on Thursday. Great job ladies!!
The girls volleyball team suffered a tough loss to Chatham in a 3 game match last night. The Senator’s were lead by Mel McKeown with 8 kills & Paige Grossen with 22 digs & 2 Aces.
The boys soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season last night a 3-2 loss to Glenwood. Ben Huston and Carter Formea scored for the Senators.

Monday will be Out of Date Trends, come dressed to celebrate any trend that has come and gone, Tuesday is Career/Professional Day - dress as any profession, Wednesday is Dynamic Duo Day, dress with any partner or group in mythic attire, Thursday is Decade's Day 9th grade are in 50's gear, 10th dressed as 60's, 11th the 70's, 12th celebrate the 80's, and finally Friday is color day - Senior in togas, juniors in black, sophomores in red, and freshmen in brown. Every start planning now to participate.
