Good morning Springfield High! Today is March 5, 2020

 

 

 

Mrs. Lauer is taking a group of juniors and seniors interested in Law Enforcement on a field trip to the United States Attorney’s Office of Central Illinois the date has been changed it is now on March 12th. The “BLAST; Building Lasting Relationships Between Police and Community” will be from 1st through 5th hour with lunch provided. Students will meet local and federal law enforcement officers, participate demonstrations and simulations, learn about careers in the criminal justice system, etc. You must be passing all classes to attend. Any questions, or if you’d like a permission slip, see Mrs. Lauer in guidance.

 

Sophomores interested in attending a career fair for vocational careers should see Mr. Kyes in the guidance office for a permission slip. Seats are limited!

 

Attention all SHS students. The Elks Lodge 158, in Springfield, is now taking applications for all certified lifeguards.  Please contact the Lodge at 529-0158 to apply.

 

Softball practice will be directly after school today, 3:30-5:30

 

The girls track & field team competed at the Mt. Zion Indoor Invitational yesterday. Top finishers for SHS were: Sarah Byrd 3rd in shot put, Blessen Pratt 5th in shot put, Linden Neposchlan 4th in pole vault, Varsha Iyer 2nd in the 1600, Maddie Kim 4th in the 1600, Kailey Elliott 4th in the 400, and Deja Anderson won the 200. 

 

Congratulations to the boys basketball team on their impressive 71-56 win over Southeast last night. Shane Miller led the way with 26 points while Tyvin Garrison added 15 points, Bennie Slater 13 points, and Dalen Banks 9 points including a pair of clutch three pointers in the third quarter. The Senators will play in the regional championship on Friday night at 7:00. The Senators will be trying to win their first regional championship since 1999. We would have to have a huge student section there to root us on to victory. 

 

GSA will meet today after school in Mrs. Eaton’s room.

Seniors - Jostens will be here on Thursday, March 12th to deliver Senior Graduation orders in the Commons during lunch.  All seniors should pick up orders Thursday.
