The cross country team competed in Jacksonville on Saturday in a triangular meet. The varsity girls team finished first place in the team standings. Maddie Kim was the top finisher for SHS, finishing second place with time of 19:56. The varsity boys team finished first in the team standings. Ethan Sommers was the top finisher for SHS, finishing first place with a time of 16:21. In the Boys JV race, Jacob Graham finished first place for SHS with a time of 17:43.
Open gyms for girls volleyball will starting soon. The schedules for open gyms can be found on SHS volleyball website. Even if you participated in the summer open gyms you must fill out a new permission slip that can be found on the SHS website or the SHS volleyball website. Remember masks are required.
Any girl interested in joining the girls tennis team can email Mrs. Mitra (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Coach Hoffman (email@example.com) so they can be added to the team's GroupMe. They practice every day from 4-5:30 at Velasco.
Eco Club is new to SHS and they are a self studying AP Environmental sciences and will have a monthly meeting for labs and review. Students could also just participate in the community activity portion, where they will do outreach or projects to impact the local environment and community.
The SHS Girls swimming and diving team. beat Lincoln High School at Lincoln College on September 3rd, 86-27, winning every event along the way. In their first meet of the season, Sarah Cavanagh swam a PR in the 100 fly with a 1:09.76. Outstanding swims also by Molly Tolsdorf, Maddie Sievers, Ayla Ackapo-Satchivi, and Cora Franklin.
Attention baseball players- workouts will begin this Thursday from 3:15-5:30 at Kennedy Park. You must have a signed parent permission slip found on the SHS home page, your own equipment, water, sanitizer and mask to participate.
