Because members of the CACC learning community are under quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure the school will be closed for in-person learning until November 4th. All CACC students will be expected to participate in online learning. Assignments, activities and assessments will be required and will count for grades. If you need to pick up books and other items, you will be able to do so from 8:00-2:00 through Thursday. Any student or staff member that was exposed and needs to quarantine has been notified.
The deadline to sign up and pay for an AP exam is Friday, November 6th. Students need to login to their MyAp.Collegeboard.org account and select the tests they want to take. Each test is $94, payment is also due on November 6th. Cash or checks can be dropped to the Guidance Office or a check can be mailed to the school. Checks should be made out to SHS. LLCC is sponsoring online FAFSA events for our high school seniors. Step by step presentations by LLCC’s Financial Aid Office on how to complete the FAFSA with opportunities to meet with Financial Aid representatives and Q/A at the conclusion of the presentation. The SHS Booster Club is hosting an online trivia night on Friday, November 13th! Students, friends, and families can form teams to play and have some remote fun! Click on the banner on the SHS web site for more information.

The Girls City Swim Meet was last night. Fortunately, we were able to live-stream it to families and friends! While we had 20 best times! Last night, we lost to SHG. From the many standout swims here are the highlights: Cora Franklin dropped 6 seconds in her 200 IM to swim a season best. Americus Berg broke through the 29 second barrier in her 50 free, swimming a 28.96. Mia Moreno dropped 1.4 seconds in the 50. Sarah Cavanagh swam PRs in the 50 free (27.5) and 100 fly (1:06.61) and 100 Back (1:12.38). Allison Tohme, Abby Ward, and Lauren Wilson all at least 1 second time drops in the 100 free. Americus dropped 7 seconds in her 500 free for an all time best. And Alexandra Bradley swam a PR in the 100 breast. Sectionals are in Edwardsville this weekend.
Any girl interested in playing basketball this year, open gyms are being held every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30. Tryouts will be Nov. 16th from 3:30-5:45. A Covid-19 waiver needs to be filled out to participate in the open gyms.
Students interested in playing Boys Basketball, there are a few open gyms remaining. The next one is Thursday night. Freshmen and Sophomores from 5:45-7:00 and Junior and Seniors 7:00-8:30. A COVID form must be signed by a parent. Forms are available on boys basketball webpage or the front right side of the SHS website.
