Good morning Springfield High! Today is April 30, 2021

After School Tutoring is available from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.   Students can access tutoring by clicking on the Academic Center located in Canvas.

The Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors to apply to become the 2021-2022 Student Board Member. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve during the upcoming school year. Applications and additional information can be found by visiting www.sps186.org/about/boe
and clicking on the “Student Board of Education Member Application Information” tab on the left hand side of the page. Applications are being accepted through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021. 

Any junior interested in participating in the Work Program next year should contact Mrs. Devlin as soon as possible at kdevlin@sps186.org.

Tryouts for the 2021-2022 SHS Cheerleading squads are approaching. Tryout packets can be picked up from the main office or from Coach Johnson in room 168. The tryout process will begin with a mandatory tryout meeting Wednesday, May 5th at 6:00 pm in the SHS Commons. This is a MANDATORY informational meeting for parents and candidates. Any questions please see Coach Johnson. The information is also available on the SHS cheerleading website. 

Mrs. Devlin has had several businesses contact her wanting to hire SHS students. A flyer with business names is posted on the job board across from room 120, stop and pick one up if you are looking for a job.

Attention Solon readers, do you like talking books with your friends without the pressure of an essay or test or just love a good story, check out Mrs. Eaton’ teacher page for info and book choices for this summer's  LIFT book club and interest survey or stop by room 366 to chat. All grade levels welcome .

More travel spots have become available for the England, Ireland, and Scotland tour in the summer of 2022. Hey Seniors- it’s our favorite time of the year— the newspaper senior survey!  Check the newspaper social media or Kramer’s senior group for the link. Please submit your responses on the google form by today. Think about this as a way to capture your senior year… foreverrrrr! If you have any questions, ask Ms Negele or your senior staffers.

The SHS boys track and Field team competed at new street field against Taylorville and Glenwood last night.  Event Champions for SHS were: Bryson Thomas in the 200, Henry Kling in the high jump, Braden White in the pole vault, and EJ Pruitt in the long jump.  The boys next compete on Saturday at the prestigious Belleville West Invitational. 

The Senator softball team lost a hard fought game to Chatham last night, 5-0. Malia Bender led the way with two hits. Skyler Wantland chipped in with a hit. The girls take on Lanphier tonight at 4:30 at Lawless Park. Good luck, ladies! 

Congratulations to the Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team who claimed their second straight victory with a 6-3 win against Rochester yesterday.  Noah Williams, David Lu, Peter Mokhoff and Bryce Pound brought home victories at singles while the doubles teams of Brian Becker/David Jiang and Zeke Cross/Ethan Stott cruised to wins on the court.  In Junior Varsity action, the doubles teams of Danny First/Joe Brudnak, Kai Brudnak/Sam Yoder, Oliver Rauscher/CLayton Kurmann, Sam Kuforiji/Carter Lyddon, Will Leamon/Will Sandtrom and JT First/Luke Elston claimed victories.  Everyone faced tough competition and played well.
