The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team handed U-High a convincing defeat yesterday, winning 7-2. Noah Williams, Brian Becker, David Jiang, Zeke Cross and Ethan Stott were victorious at singles, while the doubles teams of Zeke Cross/Ethan Stott and Peter Mokhoff/Bryce Pound also claimed victories. In exhibition action, Peter Mokhoff won at singles. Everyone faced tough competition and played well.

The baseball team enjoyed a good night Thursday winning both games they played. Game 1 was a 17 to nothing shutout of Lanphier followed by a 5 to 3 win over highly-regarded U-High. Several Solons contributed to the cause. In game 1, Alonzo Veach and Kaleb Rogers combined to allow only one hit, and Jack Swaney had 5 RBI's including a bases loaded triple. Ryne Crum added two hits including a double for 3 RBI's while Kaleb Rogers had 3 hits with a double. In game 2, it was the Ben Hartl show as he hit a clutch 2-out RBI single and then slammed the door as the closer in the last 2 innings striking out 5 of the 8 batters he faced. Luke Flesner came in relief twice to shut down opposing rallies and save the day. Next up is a game against another strong team in Washington at their place today.

The Senator softball team came from behind to knock off a solid Pawnee team 6-4. Down 3-0 in the 3rd inning and 4-2 in the 5th, the Senators mounted a comeback with a home run by Mallory Vespa, 2 hits and an RBI by Alaina Elberson, 3 hits and 2 RBIs by Liah O’Neill, and 3 hits by Kendall Knauer. Mallory Vespa went the distance allowing 3 earned runs while striking out 11 batters. Great win ladies, keep it going!

The girls soccer team defeated Riverton 8-0 last night. Sarah Becker led the Senators with 4 goals. Heather Shelton added two goals while Maddie Foster and Cameron Duval each had a goal. Maddie Foster, Amelia Eves, Marie Holtrop, Ruth Becker,Lila Ambrose and Lily Lambert picked up assists. Addssynne Sawyer and Katie Friedrich combine for the shut out.

And now the Pledge of Allegiance!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
