Good morning Springfield High! Today is January 20, 2022

After school tutoring is available for any SHS student on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 in room 160. Tutoring is provided by SHS teachers and students can come in for support in any subject. Lunch time tutoring is also available every day during either lunch shift in room 120.

Get ready for some TRIVIA! The Booster Club is hosting a Trivia Night on Saturday, January 29, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the Commons. Teams of 6 need a captain to go to:  www.shstrivia.com  Then click Team Registration at the top! Get your friends and family together for a night of fun at SHS!

National Honor Society is now accepting applications for new Junior and Senior members. A list of eligible applicants is located on each class's Canvas page announcements tab. The lists are also posted outside Mr. Kramer's office (153A), Mrs. Taft's room (356), and the Main Office. Applications will be due February 24th. Themes for City Tournament Spirit Week - Friday - Formal Friday - Wear the fun and fancy outfit that you don’t get to wear often.

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza! Thursday, Thursday, Thursday. Be a Senator will be selling hot Papa John’s pizza for $2 per slice on Thursday during both lunch shifts. 

Attention Juniors and Seniors!!! Midwest Technical Institute (MTI), located at 2731 Farmers Makes Road, Springfield, IL. 62707, will host a career night on January 20th at their campus from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tour the campus, meet with financial aid advisors, and learn about different career fields.

CITY Tournament tickets are on sale- $5 per ticket, per day. SHS students can purchase tickets during their lunch shift in the commons after school in the main office. The general public can purchase tickets Thursday from 9:00am-1:00pm for Thursday game only and 9:00-3:45 for Friday and Saturday games; Friday from 9:00am-1:00pm.  Call the main office with questions about CITY tickets.

The boys and girls track and field season begins on Monday January 24th.  If you have not signed up and plan on coming out, please see coach Cotner this week!

Penny wars has started and will run this week! Help the Superintendent's Roundtable support Compass for Kids in the run up to city tournament. The goal is to fill each bucket with your class number with the most pennies. Students can sabotage a team of their choice by adding nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars to cancel out the pennies in each bucket. The class with the most pennies wins. The buckets can be found in the commons in both lunch shifts and in the main office during the day.

City shirts are in, if you purchased a set, please pick them up in the Commons during lunch, and outside Mr. Kramer's (153A) office after school.
