Southern View Elementary School received an Academic Improvement Award from the Illinois State Board of Education and the State Superintendent for their exemplary gains in performance on the Illinois Learning Standards. We were one of 114 schools from across the state recognized for their substantial gains on ISAT Test results. To receive this award, we had to do the following:
• Show an improvement of 7.5 points in state test scores in Reading and Math between 2010 and 2011 or,
• Show an improvement of at least 15 points in state test scores in Reading and Math between 2009 and 2011; and
• Show an upward trend in state test results
We actually exceeded those expectations by having a 10% growth in all students Reading for 2010 and 2011, 18% growth in all students Math for 2009 - 2011, a 21% growth for economically disadvantaged students in Reading for 2009 -2011, and a 26% growth for economically disadvantaged students in Math for 2009 -2011.
All of this is evidence for an upward trend.
At Southern View, we are definitely Working Together to Achieve Outstanding Results!
