Keeping Your Computer Clean

November 4, 2009

The start of the cold and flu season reminds us of the importance of keeping all surfaces clean and germ-free. Your computer is no exception. To safely clean your machine, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Make sure your machine is turned off prior to cleaning.
  2. To clean the screen, use a screen cleaner and a soft cloth. Spray the cleaner on the cloth and NOT directly on the screen.
  3. The white topcase can be cleaned with a barely-damp Magic Eraser. Rub gently.
  4. The keyboard should be cleaned with a damp disinfecting wipe, such as Lysol Wipes. Be sure the wipes don’t contain bleach and that they are “wrung out” before using.

To decrease the spread of germs in the classroom, please clean student computers using these same guidelines.
