The Public Information Sessions for Springfield Area high school students interested in applying for the 2017 Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) student exchange in Ashikaga, Japan will be held on Monday, January 9, Thursday, January 19 and Monday, February 13. Each session will be at 7:00 PM in the Board Room of the Springfield District 186 Administrative Center, 1900 West Monroe Street, Springfield, IL 62704 (next to Grant Middle School, across from Fairhills Mall).
Interested students and their parents are encouraged to attend one of the sessions, if possible. Applications for the June 16-26, 2017 delegation will be available at the sessions.
Applications are open to all Springfield-area high school students (current 8th graders thru current high school seniors). February 28, 2017 is the application deadline.
Springfield has been a Sister City to Ashikaga, Japan since 1990 and has been sponsoring student exchanges for 27 years. The 11-day exchange is a total immersion experience, including living with a Japanese family and attending school.

2. 8th grade volleyball tryouts will be tonight from 4 to 6. Girls be ready and in the gym by four.
3. Lost and found items are located right outside the gym. These items will be donated to Salvation Army and Goodwill over the break. If you have items you are missing, please be certain to check before break.
4. Locker clean out will be tomorrow starting shortly after 9:00. Locker clean out will be by grade level starting with 6th grade. Announcements will be made for clean out. Students, please check your locker after school. If there are items that need to be removed to go home, please do so tonight.
5. Attention 6th grade volleyball players! There will be a practice after school tomorrow from 1:30-4:00. This is a very important practice that you will receive lots of necessary information to take home to your parents. Please be dressed out and in the gym no later than 1:40. Again 6th grade girls there will be volleyball practice after school tomorrow from 1:30-4!
6. Ambassador’s will have a very brief meeting before lunch today, due to the 1:30 dismissal schedule. All Ambassadors please report to the library BEFORE you get your lunch. You will be eating in the cafeteria today.
7. Thank you for all of our support from Ms. Stanley and the 8th graders attending the 8th grade field trip. Christmas grams will be delivered tomorrow during your 1st period!
