Welcome to WMS and the new school year!

August 18, 2021

WMS Warrior Families and Students

Welcome to WMS and the new school year. The first day of school is August 23.

As the new year approaches, I wanted to make sure you were aware of some very important changes occurring at WMS.

Due to construction, we will be requiring all students to enter the building through one of two entrances. 6th and 7th grade students will enter through the main entrance. 8th grade will enter through the front gym entrance. Student can enter the building beginning at 7:30 am.

Our school day is from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm except on Wednesday. Wednesday is an early out with dismissal at 1:30 pm.

All students and visitors to WMS will be required to always wear a face mask. Students should also bring a water bottle to school. The water bottle should have a lid or cap that can be easily secured.

Students are required to wear uniforms. Specific dress code information is contained on the WMS website.

6th grade students are required to have school physicals. All physical and immunization records are due for attendance September 7, 2020. Please make your appointments as soon as possible if you have not done so already.  Springfield NAACP will be hosting a back to school event for physicals, haircuts, and vaccinations on Saturday, August 21st from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at 801 South 11th Street.

On the first day of school all students will receive lockers, schedules, and participate in a whole building orientation. Students will also receive a Chromebook for learning this year. 7th and 8th grade students should bring their black lap top bag with them to carry their Chromebook. Extra bags are available if this item is missing or lost.

WMS will be conducting an Open House for parents and students on August 25th from 5:00 pm until 7:15 pm.

Please continue to check the WMS website for important updates as the school year progresses.

Looking forward to a productive school year.
