Wilcox Students Give Back to the Community!
For this holiday season, Wilcox students did a great job of giving back to the community. In November, Wilcox students brought in their change to help “change the world” through gifts to the United Way. The students alone brought in $383.64. The staff at Wilcox raised an extra $998 bringing our total contribution to the United Way to $1,381.64!!
Then Wilcox students also participated in a canned food drive for the Salvation Army. The classes competed against each other to promote this charity event. Our final count showed that Wilcox students brought in almost 1,200 food items to help the needy in our community.
Then, our Mystery Celebration in December was a chance for students to be part of Santa’s Workshop. Students who did not have any discipline referrals for the month of December enjoyed a celebration in our cafeteria. The students listened to holiday music and ate candy canes while they colored holiday cards for residents at two local nursing homes. The cards were delivered to St. Joseph’s Home of Springfield and to the Regency Nursing Care Residence, where they will brighten the day of their residents with a special handmade card from Wilcox students.
