Check-in/Check-out has been a part of Black Hawk Elementary School's Braided Behavior Support Systems (BBSS, formerly PBIS) program for four years! Check-in Check-out (CICO) is positive program, which helps students monitor their behavior throughout the day. Check-in takes place at the beginning of each day and Check-out is right before the students leave for the day. During Morning check-in, students are encouraged to follow the behavioral expectations at Black Hawk and are given a clipboard to carry with them. The clipboard contains a progress record, which helps the students track their behavior throughout the day. Those who meet their goal at the end of the day are celebrated, those who had a more difficult time are encouraged to reach the goal the next day. It is strictly a POSITIVE program that allows students to make a connection with adults in the building, as well as monitor their own progress throughout the day. Our goal is to serve approximately 20 students throughout the year. We hope that with extra encouragement, students will learn the skills needed to be exceptional students everyday! I have attached a copy of the Daily Progress Record. The copy sent home is yellow. If your student participates in CICO and you are not receiving one when he or she comes home, please let me know!
