COVID - 19

Mar 14, 2020 Please be aware that all district 186 schools will be closed from March 17th- March 30th (as of March 13th). On March 16th, Black Hawk will be open from 9:00 - 2:00 for students to come in and pick up any supplies that they may need. My plan is to create an assignment sheet that lays out the expectation for all of my students during their time away from school. Please stay safe and be smart.

Nutritionist visit

Mar 12, 2018 Today, a nutritionist named Janice Dowell came to talk to the 5th grade about flavored milk. Mrs. Dowell gave us some great information! She agrees with somethings that we have read, but disagrees with other things that we have read. All-in-all, Mrs. Dowell believes that chocolate milk is good for you to drink, but it needs to be balanced out with foods that are not hgh is sugar. READ MORE

PARCC Testing

Mar 7, 2018 The PARCC exam will be starting this week. Our class will be devoting four days to the tests. We have 4 math tests and 3 reading tests to complete. On Tuesday, March 6th, an assembly was held for our students explaining the importance of the test, prizes that students can earn, and the results from last year's test.  Students can earn 3 points for every test that they take. Middle School Preview Night

Feb 20, 2018 On February 22nd, all of the middle schools in Springfield will be conducting an open house for incoming 6th graders. Middle schools will be opening their doors at 6:00 and have activities and possible give-aways to encourage families to participate. Please take the time out of your evening to go to your child's future school and let them familiarize themselves with a building that they may have never been in before.

Ginger Bread Math Night

Nov 27, 2017 Ginger Bread Math Night is December 7th, from 6-7:30. We will be serving dinner, practicing basic facts, and building ginger bread houses. This event is totally free for all BlackHawk families, and we are having a drawing for 2 bicycles! Please come out and enjoy this wonderful family event!

Fall Festival

Sep 26, 2017 Please join us on Saturday September 30th for the 3rd annual Fall Festival at BlackHawk Elementary School from 11:00-1:00.The whole family will enjoy fun games and food!
