Attached is my explanation about how online learning will look in my classes starting April 14, 2020. Please feel free to contact me via email (dratz@sps186.org) for questions, suggestions, concerns, etc.

Welcome to Lanphier!

Hello, and welcome to Lanphier High School! I am both honored and excited to teach freshmen and sophomores this year. My students will be learning to be better readers, writers, and literate thinkers, all skills that everyone needs to be successful, productive, and self-sufficient in life. I value each and every student, not only those in my classes, but in all classes at Lanphier. I also strongly believe that a powerful parent, student, and teacher collaborative bond helps students to have the best learning year possible, and I am looking forward to working with all of my students and families this year. A little bit about me: This is my 32nd year of teaching in District 186. I have an undergraduate degree in Teacher Education and Psychology and a master's degree in Science: Reading. I have certification as a Reading Specialist and I also taught Reading Methods at UIS for eight years. My husband and I are blessed with four wonderful adult children, three beautiful daughters-in-law, and six amazing grandchildren. One of my teaching goals is to always provide the quality of teaching to your child that I would want for my own children and grandchildren, and I pledge to do that for every child in my class. This will be a very worthwhile learning year for your child, and I look forward to working with them and you!
