Learn about how art can tell a story.  Narrative art. Click on the Narrative Art link above to download a slide show.  Keep clicking the spacebar to work your way through the slide show.

Design your own art to create a story using visual clues.  The visual clues are: facial expression, setting, objects, gesture, and clothing.  Using these create a narrative work of art and write the story you drew!  I can't wait to see what you create.  Email me at jerobinson@sps186.org or send a message on class dojo.

Vincent van Gogh

One of my favorite artists is Vincent van Gogh as many of my students already know.  Check out this cool video of an artist making Vincent's Starry Night on water!

You can learn even more about Vincent van Gogh here.

Can you make your own version of Starry Night using items found at home?  You could simply draw it with a pencil, crayon, marker, pen, or maybe outside using sidwalk chalk.  What about finding objects to put together and create your own version?  I'd love to see any starry nights that you make!  Please email them to me at jerobinson@sps186.org or send them on class dojo!

I made my version using the food coloring watercolor that I suggested yesterday for alternate paint ideas. (Tip: mix all the colors together to make black)

Can't wait to see your creations!

Thanks for the pirates I've received so far!  Here they are (including one llama, the pirate puggle I drew and a pirate from my own son!)
Alternate Paint Ideas

If you don't have paint at home try creating your own.  Think about any materiels you might be able to use like people creating cave art did.

Try these:

Painting with coffee

Fruit and vegetable paint

Paint made with spices

Food Coloring Watercolors

Draw a Pirate!
