Hello Students and Families, 

It is so wonderful to be back in person at school. We are all looking forward to a great year in art! We willl be exploring fun art activities in paint, oil pastels, chalk, modeling clay, and many drawing mediums. All students began the year using drawing mediums to let me, their art teacher know what they liked to draw and another project of simplified line gesture kids. Since we began the school year learning the art rules and procedures, we are now ready to get into big class projects with a variety of art mediums. First grades are getting into oil pastels, the second grades will be using liquid Tempera and marker, the third grades will be using liquid tempera and marker, the fourth grades will be exploring modeling clay, the fifth will be using charcoal, and the special needs classes will be using a variety of materials such as paint and colored pencils. There are usually 2 different projects going on for each class, so we will constantly make great use of our art time. We also work a lot on a vaiety of ways of how to draw people early in the school year, so we will be working on this too. 

Remember to not wear your favorite clothes or shoes on art days. The art room does have available paint aprons that students may wear. If a student prefers they may bring their own though. 

Due to covid, there will have to be some changes in how we do projects. It may change the way we use materials, clean materials, and more. It will make projects take up more time, and the quantity of materials used. Thank you all for your understanding during this difficult time of covid. 

As your art teacher, I am looking forward to seeing all your great creations! You are all ARTTASTIC.  Remember to work hard, follow directions, be positive, and always do your personal best. If you, the student does this, you can be very proud of yourself; I am proud of you and all you create.
