CELL PHONE OR REGULAR CAMERA (MAY DRAW INSTEAD OF USING A CAMERA) TO CREATE AN OUTDOOR PICTURE MORE PLEASING BY RAISING OR LOWERING THE HORIZON LINE. The horizon line is where ground meets sky, or water meets sky, or buildings line meet sky.
Photography is fun for both the amature and the professional photographer. Photography plays a huge part in all our lives showing everyday life, special occasions, news and life all over the world. Photography may also be an art profession (an art job).
For a better picture and to help you decide whether you want more sky, or more land - take the time to look close at the outdoor scene before clicking the picture. Are there interesting clouds in the sky, where you may want more sky? Or interesting things on the ground like flowers in the grass, where you may want to show more land. Or if there is something you want to show - such as your outside toys on the ground? Then this may make you want to show more land. Or a kite flying in the sky? Then this may make you want to show more sky.
The reason why it helps to have more land / less sky, or more sky / less land is because the design works out better and is more pleasing to the eye of the beholder. Though it is possible to take a great picture with it being half sky / half land - it is just harder to make it work as well. So why made it harder on yourself and fight success? Lol. If you wish, you may try three pictures of the same outdoor scene. Have one with more land / less sky, one with more sky / less land, and one that is half land / half sky. Which do you like better? Did this "photography helpful hint" work?
I believe you will find the more pictures you take with your "photographic" eye in mind; your photos will improve. : )
So lets take some time to ponder at the end while we look over our outdoor pictures. What was the coolest part of this project? What was one thing you learned? What connects you to the picture / land that you photographed (or drew)? The land / sky is important to us personally, and to all mankind no matter where we live. It is good to take the time to see nature, and to take care of the land and the air we breathe. : > )
