Abbie Antonacci and Katie Weller each had four hits and Sacred Heart-Griffin High School pounded Lanphier 21-1 Thursday in five innings to stay perfect through four days of the City Series at SHG’s Comstock Field.
SHG (20-4 overall, 13-1 CS8, 4-0 City) has clinched a share of the four-team tournament with two games remaining against Southeast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Springfield High (8-15, 6-5, 2-2) is the only team that also could claim a share of the City Series if the Senators sweep Lanphier next week and if Southeast sweeps SHG.
SHG’s Becca Sauer improved to 8-0 while throwing five innings of four-hit ball. She struck out eight and the one Lanphier run was unearned. At the plate, Sauer was 3-for-5 with three RBIs.
Antonacci hit two doubles, a triple and stole two bases while hitting 4-for-5 with five RBIs. Weller was a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
Claire Dodson, who homered for the Cyclones, and Renee Abernathy, both had three hits apiece.
Lanphier fell to 3-22 (3-9, 1-3).
In the nightcap, Grace Vespa was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Springfield High beat Southeast 19-1.
The Senators (8-15, 6-5, 2-2) jumped out to a 10-0 lead after 1½ innings.
Madeline Cleary, Lauren Cozaad and Jaden Long also had two hits each for Springfield.
The Spartans fell to 2-16 (1-11, 1-3).
