Fairview Families

Have you heard about our Fairview Families? For 13 minutes after lunch we pause everything we are doing and travel throughout the school to our Fairview Families. A Fairview Family consists of a staff member and 8 - 10 students from Kindergarten thru grade 5. Every staff member with the exception of four, who are floaters, are assigned a Fairview Family. Teachers, assistants, 1 on 1's, our secretary,  custodian and lunch ladies all have families. And if you walk the halls during that 13 minutes, you will see families meeting in all areas of the school: classrooms, offices, conference room, teachers lounge and on our stage.

Why Fairview Families? It allows students and staff who normally wouldn't know each other to form meaningful relationships. You will see a 5th grader run up and greet a Kindergartner at morning drop off. A 2nd grader high five a 4th grader and call them by name in the hallway. A student who might need a break, requests time with their Fairview Family Grown Up.

Fridays at Fairview have a little more happiness to them because of this special time. We have had Grown Ups tell us their student refuses to miss school on Fridays because they don't want to miss time with their Fairview Family. The smiles as students and Grown Ups head to their meeting place is contagious and we all head into the weekend reminded of what an incredible place Fairview is!
