What's Exciting at Graham Elementary?
Yesterday K-2 had the pleasure of two local authors coming to visit.
Ms. Brenda Major and Ms. Mia Dawson helped Graham students conclude their studies of authors and Black History Month.
They all LOVED hearing about Not All Frogs Are Green!

Congratulations to Graham's Allstar - Miara Torres!
Miara is a 5th grader in Mr. Creek's class. Her artwork, Mystical Landscape, was submitted by Ms. Carruthers who is Graham's art teacher.
The 10th International Art Competition Architecture of Lublin awarded Miara with the "Director's Commendation" and some new art supplies.
We love to support, recognize and celebrate our students' accomplishments!!!
Please let us know if your student has any achievements we can celebrate.

Springfield and Central Illinois African American History Museum collected our student's artwork and then had the pieces professionally framed and hung to create an exhibit at the museum.
All of the pieces of art were either created by an African American artist or they depict the African American experience.
We appreciate the AAHM & their commitment to showcasing our students' work in celebrating Black History.
You can visit the gallery February 18th - March 31st, Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 pm - 4:00 p.m.

District 186 families!
Any pre -k , kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade, 12th grade and new students to District 186 - please turn in your child's proof of physical and immunization information as soon as possible.
If your child’s physical and immunizations have not yet been turned in or scheduled, your child will be excluded from school on September 6, 2022.
Because of the demand for appointments and immunization in our community, the Board of Education is allowing school nurses to accept documentation of your child’s scheduled physical and immunizations so that they may remain in school. This documentation of an appointment must be brought to the school on Sept. 6 in order for a student to remain.
Appointments must be scheduled between now and October 14, 2022. After October 15 all students who do not have proper documentation of completed immunizations and physicals will be excluded from school.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

Please turn in your physical and immunization forms ASAP! It is very important to make sure your student's records are up to date with your school. Students without their information turned in will be excluded from school starting September 6th.

Graham Elementary Picture Day Wednesday, August 10th!

A beautiful bench was dedicated and two trees were planted in Lincoln Park in honor of Chuck Flamini. Lanphier High School teacher, Scott Metzke, collected donations from current and former LHS staff to purchase the bench and trees. Yesterday ,friends and family gathered for the dedication at Lincoln Park. Chuck left his mark on our community as a friend, teacher, union activist, school administrator and school board member. You can visit the Flamini bench in Lincoln park right beside the playground area. "I picked this spot because it faces towards Lanphier High School" said Scott Metzke.

We are very proud of our 5th graders that competed today at the Rube Goldberg Engineering in the Classroom competition at the University of Illinois. Our event was one of many going on for the Engineering Open House and our students got to participate in and watch many different engineering activities. We would like to thank Kim Tribbet and Brian Manci, our volunteer engineers that have worked with our students over the last 4 years. And we have a special thank you to the Sinnott family for donating the AWESOME shirts that our team got to wear during this event.
