Good Afternoon Parents,
We hope this email finds you all well, as we gear up for some time with our families over holiday break. Our students have made so much progress this semester, and continue to show us that they can come to school each day to be learners. We continue to remind our JMS students that their job is to come to school each and every day to be an engaged learner. We reinforce this with them each day on the announcements, in the hallways, and in their classrooms. We teach them that being an engaged learner looks like paying attention, being respectful, and being a collaborative learner in each class. Our teachers are also utilizing new and exciting engagement strategies in their classrooms. We ask that you continue to reinforce this concept with them at home as well so that we can continue to work as a team for our students success. We are continuing to celebrate our students who come to school each day to be learners with fun prizes, activities, and treats! As always, we appreciate your continue support!
We have included some reminders below:
Winter Break starts at the end of this week, (our last day is Friday) and students will return to school to school on Wednesday January 4th.
Please remember that students need to come to school following dress code expectations each day. This includes a solid color shirt (can be with or without a collar), they must have solid color pants on that are not jeans, sweatpants, or athletic wear and free from tears or holes. They can wear any JMS attire for a top (non hoodie) and they cannot have any large logos on their shirts. Also, house-slippers are not allowed. We appreciate your help with this, and thank all of our students that come in dress code each day!
Report Cards will come home with students AFTER winter break, please review these with your students.
We will be starting a new tardy policy next semester where students will be assigned a parent phone call and lunch detention after their 3rd tardy. Once they reach 6 tardies they will be assigned an after school detention. Please continue to speak with your students about the importance of being to class on time each hour so that they can be learners.
Please remember the cut off for picking up students for an appointment is 2 o'clock, if you pick up after this time you will be asked to join the parent pick up line behind the school so that we can keep the parking lot clear for dismissal
Our new construction is complete! It is a beautiful new space that includes a new cafeteria, a multi-purpose room, a new staff room, and 4 new classrooms. We will begin using the new areas in January!
We have hired two new office secretaries and we ask that you introduce yourself when you call and welcome them to the JMS family! We also ask that you show them patience and grace as they learn their new positions. Ms. Malin is in the main office and handling attendance, and in the Principal's office is Ms. Aguas.
Thank you for reading all the way through, and we hope you have a wonderful holiday break with your families!
