SE Spartan Announcements

Good Morning, Southeast students and staff. It's Thursday, February 5th, 2026! I’m _____________.

Remember that successful Spartans ARE RESPECTFUL, they follow classroom and school-wide expectations, allow for learning throughout the building, and can think critically.

And now for a moment of silence to start our day…Thank you.

General Inf0

Hey Spartans, if you are ever absent or just want to go back to see announcements because something really cool caught your attention.

Go to the Southeast webpage, scroll down and you will see the current announcements. If you want to see older announcements, click on SEE ALL POSTS.

From there you can click on any date, and either view the video, or quickly read through the printed copy to find practice times, club announcements, or just general information.

Students- Each student in the building was issued a locker at the start of the year.  Combinations were also given.  Lockers are not to be shared, and locks are not to be preset.  If you need your combination or have locker issues, please report to the student office.  Lockers can be randomly searched at any time, and all contents in your locker are your responsibility!  If the administration finds that multiple people are sharing lockers, disciplinary action may be taken.  Please make sure you use your locker only and keep it locked at all times.

Mr. Van Houten says- please don't text and drive!!!   IT CAN WAIT!

Clubs/Opportunities

Sports

It’s not too late to come out for boys track. If you are interested we practice everyday after school in the commons. See Coach Ballard with any questions.

This Saturday, February 7 - CS8 Swim Meet at Eisenhower Pool, 9 AM

Basketball Super Saturday: GBB vs. Jacksonville (Varsity Only) at 11 AM. BBB vs. Belleville West at 2:30 PM (JV) and 4 PM (Varsity). One price gets you in all three games! We will have fun treats on the concessions menu and plenty of giveaways throughout the day.

Spring athletes must have an up-to-date physical. If you have not participated in another sport this school year, pay the $85 athletic fee (checks made payable to Southeast High School or pay ONLINE) or submit a waiver. All spring athletes should be on their team roster. This allows the athletic office to check academic eligibility and to give parents and students access to Rooms. Download the District 186 app and use your student or parent login to access Rooms to communicate with coaches. Coaches will also post practice and game updates on Rooms. Don't miss out on important announcements.

Remember to check the Southeast Athletics webpage for the full sports calendar.

Awards/Celebrations

Coach Hamilton, our boys basketball coach, and Senator Doris Turner have teamed up to promote non violence in schools. Many things will be offered from this grant money, but one thing everyone enjoyed last year and could participate in was Gift Card Giveaway Friday. All you have to do is be referral free, that includes cell phone, headphones, and dress code referrals. There is a little bit of a difference this year, instead of being referral free for the WHOLE year, Coach Hamilton wants students to reflect on their referrals, make necessary changes, and get another chance at a gift card. So each month is a fresh start. How do you know if you win? Watch Friday morning announcements. The wheel will spin and name 3 big winners of $50 gift cards to be claimed in the student office. So check those Friday morning announcements and stay referral free each month!

For those of you that do not know, we lost a Spartan last year. In honor of Alaina's one year passing, we ask that you show your support to her, and the many others that have lost to their battle of suicide by wearing the color purple on Thursday, February 5th. If anyone you know is struggling or you yourself is struggling please reach out to a trusted adult. We have resources here at Southeast (Ms. Sellars, Ms. Swan, and Mr. Causley) as well as many others. You are not alone. Spartans stand tall together!

If you find yourself in immediate crisis dial 988 for the Safe2Help Hotline, and if you are concerned about a friend/family text 72332 for help.
