  • As we enter the last month of the school year, BAS encourages you to have the perseverance to keep working hard!   Don’t be afraid to ask for help from family, friends and staff at SHS. A support system is an important part of success.  Having people to turn to for advice and encouragement can make a significant difference in helping you overcome challenges. Finish strong!


  • Students, if you need help with your classwork or homework, After School Tutoring is held in Room 266 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday each week from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.


  • Students, don’t forget: The Peace Room is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30-2pm to any student needing support and a safe space to assist with mental health concerns. Check your Canvas to sign up or ask Mrs. Coley!



  • The Sister Cities Association of Springfield (SCAS) will be sponsoring a high school student delegation to Ashikaga, Japan from June 21 to June 30, 2025.

The delegation will include high school students and 2 chaperones. Information and application materials can be found on the SCAS website:

  • Any senior athlete who is planning on playing a sport next year in college, please stop by the main office and pick up a Signing Day Information Form.  This form must be completed and turned in to Mr. Barnes no later than 3:30 on Friday, May 16th.  If you do not turn in a form, you will not be recognized.


  • 7 & Senators auditions will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 2:30 in the Auditorium. Please come prepared to sing the National Anthem a cappella. We will teach you a portion of a song as well.



  • Feminist club is collecting essential items for local homeless support groups. Scan the QR code on promotional signs for acceptable items. Donations may be dropped off in the Main office until April 30.


  • This will be the last week we will be selling cold brew coffee. It will be available Wednesday during both lunch shifts. Same location, same price.


  • ¡Atención! Spanish Club will be meeting at Azteca on May 6th at 6 pm! If you are interested in attending, talk to Señor Reichert in Room 260 and bring $5. Spots are limited, so it will be on a first-come, first-served basis! Gracias!


  • Lincoln Land Community College will be in the Commons on Wednesday, April 30th, to meet with current sophomores and juniors who signed up for dual credit courses at SHS and CACC next year. They will be registering you for LLCC credit. 


Please see the class Canvas announcement for the list of classes for which this applies.  If you did not receive a pass to attend (on 4/25 or 4/28) and you feel that you should have, please contact Mrs. Lauer (10th grade) or Mrs. Adeniji (11th grade).  You do need a pass to attend.


  • Possibly interested in going into education or thinking of working in a school in some capacity? LLCC and UIS are hosting District 186 schools for a Painting Education Differently field trip for sophomores and juniors to explore options to work in education. The field trip will be most the day May 8th. If interested, permission slips will be available in the Guidance Office and are due back next today. See Mr. Kramer with questions. 


  •  The softball team got back on track with a win over Athens last night. Mia Volpert recorded a perfect game in the circle, allowing no hits or walks while striking out 13. Congrats to Bella Pagliara, who hit her first home run of her career! Erin Stoops had a big hit and 2 RBI’s and Volpert had a hit and RBI. The girls move to 12 and 3 on the season. 


  • Congratulations to the Springfield Capitals Esports team coming home as SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS in 4 out of the 6 games this past Saturday at Danville.  From Springfield High Sam Foys and Ethan Higgins were crowned champions in Rocket League, and Diego Jimmenez was crowned champion in EA Sports FC. Other Champions were Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.  The Springfield Capitals will travel to Evergreen Park for State this Saturday.

  • Congratulations to the Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team on capturing the 2025 JD Sinnock Invitational Championship!  The teams of Krish Khurana/Jai Khurana and Rohan Ugrappa/Matthew Sommer won their respective championship at first and second doubles, while Bennett Nelson captured second place at second singles.  Faaiz Qureshi also contributed with a victory at first singles.

In Junior Varsity action, the teams of Eric Dong/Mox Amin finished in fourth place at first doubles while Nate Pasman/Anshul Nagrecha won third place at second doubles.

Congratulations on great individual and team performances!

  • The soccer team defeated Pleasant Plains 1-0 Friday. Kamryn Hoffman scored on an assist from Bridget Lyons. The Solons got another solid defensive game from Rylee Clark, Emma Allen, Madison Clark, Ainsley Lambert, Annabelle Bilyeu and Lucy Ambrose. Lydia Auble made several key saves while earning the shut-out.

  • The boys track and field team competed at the Lanphier Invite on Saturday and the varsity boys finished in 6th place overall, while the Fresh/Soph Boys dominated the competition winning by 94.5 points over East St. Louis.  First place finishes were turned in by the following athletes: Mekhi Newman in the Varsity 100, Jacob Greco in the Fresh/Soph 400, Jake Tolsdorf in the fresh/soph 800, DJ Peeler in the fresh/soph 1600, Sam Batterman in the fresh/soph 3200, Micah Bonansinga in the varsity 110 hurdles, Trey Sutton in the fresh/soph shot put, Richawn Crawford in the fresh/soph long jump, the fresh soph 4x200 relay team of Richawn Crawford, Jeremiah Brown, Jamel Battie, and Rober Atanda, the fresh/soph 4x400 relay team of Jacob Greco, Farhan Faizel, Brandon Moody and Deanthony Brown, and the 4x800 relay team of DJ Peeler, Collin Nolte, Jordan Green and Brandon Moody.  The boys next compete at the Prospect invite on Friday. 

  • The girls track and fields team competed at the Titan invite at Glenwood on Friday night.  Sarah Nguyen finished in 4th place in the 110 hurdles, Justice Moore finished 5th place in the 300 hurdles, Jayla Lesson finished in 5th place in the shot put, the JV 4x100 relay of Simone Banks, Lauren Harrison, Justice Moore and Blessing Awator finished 4th, the JV 4x200 relay team of Simone Banks, Nylah McGrone, Alaysia Reese, and Sophia Foard finished 3rd, and the Varsity 4x200 relay team of Sanaii Bryant, Zyon Wigley, Aleyah Walton and Malorie Harris finished in 5th place.  The girls net compete at the City meet on Tuesday at Lanphier.
