The ribbon has officially been cut on the new Duey Gymnasium, and the energy inside those walls was pure joy!
Media, community members, alumni, and families joined us to celebrate the opening of the new storm shelter gymnasium, along with the beautiful new band and choir rooms as we unveil this wing of the school. This milestone marks an exciting step forward in a construction project that continues through 2027—and the transformation is already turning heads.
We took time to recognize our boys and girls basketball teams, honoring the legacy of competition and commitment that defines Springfield High. And of course, it wouldn’t be a true Springfield celebration without spirit, our scarlet line and cheerleaders brought the house to its feet with the hey song and the school song, officially christening the new gym with Solon pride.![]()

From longtime Senators to our youngest future graduates, the crowd poured in to tour the space and get a glimpse of the new Springfield High. The reviews were unanimous: bright, modern, welcoming, and yes, very cool.

And most importantly, thank you to our community. The 1% sales tax investment is making projects like this possible creating safe, inspiring spaces for our students today and for generations to come.
