The baseball team pulled off the upset last night by taking down the defending 2A State Champs in knocking off SHG by a 6 to 5 score. Liam Watts played the role of hero in hitting a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 6th to put the Solons on top for the first time. Hero # 2 Alex Heyen came on to pitch out of a 7th inning jam after the first 2 Cyclones reached base. Heyen induced a double play ball to Jacob Scheffler followed by a groundout to Jackson Jenkins with the tying run on 3rd to seal the deal by getting all 3 outs on 12 pitches. Brody Scheffler pitched the first 6 and allowed only 2 earned runs while striking out 9, as he survived 6 Senator errors to earn the win. Watts had 5 RBI’s for the game, as he also had a run scoring single in the first driving in Jenkins who also had 2 hits for the day. Next up is a 6 pm game tonight at ISU’s Duffy Bass Field where SHS faces off against the highly touted Pioneers of U-High
The soccer team defeated Southeast 10-0 last night. Kamryn Hoffman 3 goals, Kalyn Burton 2 goals, Megan Foster 2 goals, and Addie Maddox, Bridget Lyons and Lucy Ambrose scored for the Senators. Lydia Auble and Morgan Leininger recorded the shut-out.
And Now the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. (Moment of Silence)
