The baseball team split a doubleheader with East Peoria on Saturday, picking up a 5-4 win in game one and dropping game two by a 7 to 2 count. The Senators pulled the upset in game one over the Peoria area powerhouse by using a strong pitching combo of Caiden Bietsch and Karter Marks to go along with an outstanding defensive effort that turned 3 double plays in tough spots. Bietsch picked up his second win of the week on the mound and Marks tossed a stellar 3 inning save to secure the W. The offense for the day only provided 8 hits in the 2 games combined, but was led by 2 apiece from the Scheffler brothers in Brody and Jacob, along with 2 from Connor Borah in the lead-off spot. Next up is a 4:30 CS8 contest tomorrow against Rochester at Robin Roberts Stadium.
The softball team picked up a road win Friday evening over Riverton 13 to 1. The bats were hot for several Senator players on the night as the offense started early. Lanie D was 4 for 4 on the night with 2 doubles and a triple, as well as 2 RBI's. Erin Stoops went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Milan Robinson went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI. In the JV games on Saturday, both Avarie Chen and Vanessa Kelley picked up hits. Good job, ladies.
And Now the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. (Moment of Silence)
