The speed. The strength. The heart. It was all on full display at Memorial Stadium | Ray Ramsey Track and Field last night as athletes from our four city high schools competed in the 2026 Girls City Meet.
From explosive starts to strong finishes, the talent on the track and in the field events was undeniable. But just as powerful as the competition was the camaraderie. You could see it in every handoff, every cheer from the sidelines, and every moment athletes lifted each other up. Track and field may be an individual sport on paper, but nights like this prove it’s built on teamwork, support, and shared drive.
Congratulations to Sacred Heart-Griffin High School on taking the city title with 117 points, followed by Springfield High School - Illinois with 69.5, Springfield Southeast High School with 54.5, and Lanphier High School with 19.
Track and field teaches more than competition. It builds discipline, resilience, and confidence. It shows athletes how to push past limits, support their teammates, and celebrate every step of progress.
Wishing all of our athletes the best of luck as the season continues!!
